Hey girls, this literally hit me like 20 seconds ago...
My entire look has changed soooo much over the past 7 years it's CRAZY.
I was all about intense raccoon eyeliner at 13-14. I got into intense colorful eyeshadow and nails at 14-15. From the age of 13 I literally never left the house without a full face!! Like I would steal my moms things lol. But I also felt so self consious about my look and what people thought. Then when I was 16-17 at the end of high school I would do the intense brow and cateye look and lots of shadow on Fridays lol. My nails were insanely long and I had like two packs of extensions in at all times. Since then I've gradually toned it down to where I literally havent worn makeup in days right now and I'm like holy #&@%! Who would have ever thought?! This passed year (I'm 20 now) I've been so minimal: brows, mascara, SKINCARE, lip moisterizer /gloss, natural curls. I honestly feel so much prettier than I ever did before... Its like super refreshing and when I do the occasional cateye and rare full face, it feels amazing and different. I feel so much better and I couldn't care less what other people think anymore.
I would love to hear how your look has evolved over the year? What made you change? Did it "just happen"? How do you feel looking back? (some of my looks were so embarrassing lol) I'd love to hear what you have to say :)

Well for starters I'm better at picking out a foundation color for myself and don't look like an oompa lompas golden sister. I've also learned the power of a lip liner. The number one thing I'm super happy about is that I've learned how to properly do my eyes. I've only been wearing makeup for two years and immediately started in the realm of color as thats where I was, and still am, the most comfortable. But I didn't know a thing about crease colors, transition colors, etc. Happy to see that I've made a change for the better. Now to keep improving!

I first started wearing makeup in 11th grade I think. My mom and sister never wore makeup and I didn't know how to use it , I told my sister I thought mascara was stupid and I didn't get what it was for and so I just used eyeshadow cause of the pretty colors lmao! That stage didn't last long thankfully but I do have one school pic with the eyeshadow sans mascara look. Awful lol! :/
Nowadays I basically just wear mascara but I still love to do a full face when I go out, praise the lawd I learned how to do makeup properly now(tho I'm no pro), even my mom and my sister have since started wearing makeup occasionally come to me for advice! My oh my what a life this is lol.

Lol, I always trip out on how different I look from when I first started wearing makeup.
I started wearing makeup when I was 13, all I wore was winged eyeliner and mascara. As well as my beloved VS lip glosses (I had SO MANY lmao.) the only thing I ever really regret was plucking my eyebrows.. I plucked those things until they were basically non-existent. LMAO. I plucked them up until I was 15, then I started letting them grow back. Winged eyeliner and mascara was all I ever really wore until I turned 17/18, I got my first break out and I was SO SAD lmao. So I started wearing face makeup, nothing crazy though...but the shade sure as hell didn't match lol. I stopped wearing the winged liner a few months ago and just wear mascara now, I only wear eyeliner every once in a blue moon. I like the less is more look

Ok so at 13-14 I was only wearing eye liner on the waterline and Victoria secret lipgloss. I use to carry that lipgloss every where.
at 15 I started to wear foundation and blush
at 16-17 I started to wear smokey grey and black eyeshadow for an everyday look also full face of makeup lol that was my worst makeup phase
then at 18 and now 21 I now know how to properly wear makeup lol also before hitting 18 I would never use brushes now I can't do my makeup with out my brushes.

This is a great thread... I've got to find a picture of when I first started wearing makeup! I remember I used to be very conservative with it, I was in middle school and it was just a game to me: I loved putting makeup on people and I was all about natural beauty so I would keep it minimal and my friends would say "I can't even see it!" Lol.
Then I started wearing just a bit of white eyeliner on my top lid to make my eyes pop (mom was saying "no black!!"), and sometimes a but if lipgloss.
Then I slowly transitioned to pencil eyeliner and mascara when I was 15. When I was 16 I started using concealer...magic!
And after that I started doing some winged eye looks and never wore bold lipstick. My brows were overplucked but not pencil thin, more like short and the tails were a bit too thin. And I started filling them in slightly.
After that I was all about the brows and I probably went overboard sometimes but oh well!
At 17/18 I got into eyeshadow and the rest is history.
But the hair story is so different! I cut my hair from "boob" length super curly hair to shoulder length with red streaks when I was 14, and then I just couldn't stop! I got it super short in the back with long pieces in the front and a very short slanted fringe and blue inserts! And then a bunch of bobs, shaved heads, pixie cuts and funky colors!

At 40 something I would have to say I evolved several times over. I've tried cut crease (no success in that arena), 2 seconds of harsh contouring (not going to show pictures of that hot mess) and I even played around full false lashes. One thing that has already been a tried and true with me is making my skin the focus and trying not to mask it up with a bunch thick, matte foundation products. The one trend that I refuse to give up and will probably continue till the day I die has to be wearing bright lippies. Some folks seem to think that as soon as you hit a certain age you have become subtle with your lip color (makeup in general). Not I!! I even have it written in my final wishes to my family that when they dress me up for burial I have to have MAC Candy Yum Yum on my lips. It was my first super bright pink lippie that my husband brought for me at the MAC store by himself.
I'll still keep experimenting and trying new things out but most certainly two things will always remain permanent...making my skin the focus and bright lips.
