Has anyone had their natural hair curly permed? I really want to have curly hair, my hair is wavy not curly it is huge and doesn't hold a curl pattern at all. I really want nice curls. Has anyone gotten one? How do you care for it? Where did you go?

You want to go to a salon to get it done. make sure to ask for someone experienced in them. they can be damaging if not done right. A lot of my clients who get perms love them.
after getting a perm you don't want to wash your hair for 48hrs. you want to keep moisture in the hair. use onlu sulfate free shampoo and conditioner.
they smell awful whole your getting them, but if you want to have more curl the smell is worth it. If you have used a relaxer on your hair before then a perm is a no go for you. Yes if you have color treated hair you can still get a perm just make sure you let the stylist know so they can use a color safe perm.
I always recommend my clients get a oil for there hair. I love Brazilian blow out acai dry oil. argan oil, or Moroccan oil. that will help with the frizz. I also make sure they pick up a deep conditioning treatment, my favorite is the Moroccan oil masks.

Which brands of perm do you suggest? I'm so nervous about getting one since not a lot of people get them done anymore, any salon suggestions on the east coast? I'm from Philadelphia but I'm willing to travel a reasonable distance.
