You do realize that you post your pics to your profile then you add your list of product's there and your pic goes up onto the main picture feed. The word tutorial shouldn't have been used but if you read it again and really think about what's being said then it will make sense since the talk forum is for discussion and the picture forums are for picture's. You want to be seen right then conversation helps build that thread up. I'm not understanding how giving a bit more info on a look is difficult.

If we are explaining how we do this and that then what is it? we want to share I looks and talk about. I post MY motds because I almost always use to all of elf products to show people you don't need to spend 100's of dollars on makeupm my opinion still stands.

I agree alma. I love when the girls post motd. all of them do such a lovely job. but I would like to know how it was achieved and what not.

Nicole we are not pulling guidelines out from everywhere, we are trying to make this community run smoothly and be a place of learning, interaction and knowledge!
When we ask for the huge amount of motds to be posted in the photo section or to have a purpose it is because the threads almost never give much more content then to generate compliments, which you can also get in the photo section. Also we really want to make sure that everyone who is posting questions gets some answers and feedback - we all know how big the problem with threads being buried is and how many people gets frustrated because of it!

I didn't say it was difficult did I.

I don't know why people are so upset about having to explain how you created the look, not only does it create a less boring thread, it can really help the community give feedback. It helps people see what you did and what you can do better to improve the look. Personally, I think it'll be very helpful in figuring out where some people need help and how they can improve.

That's the point Nicole, if you don't need 100 product's to achieve a look then why not share that? What's wrong with bringing up conversation. If you feel it's something you can't do then please feel free to just post it to your personal profile. Cindy that's exactly what we would like to see from member's when it comes to the talk forums just a bit more engaging meaning to the threads.

Thank you Riff exactly. ;)

Apparently you can't have a opinion unless you agree with the "moderators" without people trying to change them. thanks.

If there wasn't guidelines in place this community would be a hot mess. And when things become out of control we have to go in make changes to how things are run so we can have a nice flow.

I love the idea alma. this is the talk section put something in their we can all learn from and talk about. and please stay connected with your thread I honestly do love motd post but when you post a pic and people answer or ask questions about what you used and no one answers I think it's rude and that's just my opinion. this is why like your idea alma.

Shelley I started bl I would say about 3 years ago. and literally said nothing because there were no boundaries or rules. and people were rude. posted what ever they wanted. it was horrible. I just came back a yr ago I believe and I love it way more with mods and rules. I think it was crazy back then when I first started. we lost a couple of great people because there were no rules and no one respected.

Oh I remember that Cindy, it was insane people were calling each other names, threads of unbelievable things were posted ugh..

I think I started around the same time Cindy. I agree about losing great people...the pro MUA involvement is MIA. The only one's left are Alma and Jackie...all the others left behind the chaos and that's a shame because a few of them were rich with information and assisting us regular folks. And don't get me started on the posts...too x-rated in some instances.

It was insane. at the time I loved the idea of the app but it was so bad that it made the app less likeable in my opinion because it was crazy. this is exactly what this app needed. it needed rules and people to look after the threads.

I agree Shelley, I also remember Jordan liberty also interacting here and answer questions he was friendly and once in a while Billy B would interact. I do miss that.

Shelley I remember. their were a lot of great people that left. the one whom I always wonder about is velen (I think that's how you spell her name) she was wonderful. when I came back she was already gone. and it's such a shame.

I remember Jordan!! he was super friendly.

Jordan was super friendly and I couldn't believe how some people tried to tell him he was wrong about makeup techniques smh.. oh velen left on her own..I agree once the site started the app everything was crazy. I remember when Jackie and myself would Mod and no one new Beautylish had mods, people would say a bunch of stuff to us not knowing what we did here lol they would called us Beautylish police but once it was announced then we heard cricket's.

I get that the talk section is to talk and not go around fishing for compliments BUT I don't think this is the right way to do it. Let's be real nobody is going to read a wall of text on how you did a look. Plus even if they did this doesn't start a conversation either. You just read it (at best) and still go Gorgeous! Or Great look!, and that's it. Don't believe me go read how the threads following this idea are going... Honestly it is a lot of work but I think the way to go are pictorials. You don't learn reading tutorials, you watch them. This I think would be more helpful for the community but again if you want to encourage conversation I think your fix is on the wrong route. Just my opinion!
May 9, 2015
Shelley W.
@Kattya...as a mod...looking from my end...the site is running much better with the change. If you could view things from our perspective you would understand. Pictures are great but that is why Instagram is so popular.

I'm seeing two threads like that and all comments besides mods' are regular compliments just as usual. Mayne you guys should accept a positive criticism and open more your eyes, what I am saying is what I truly believe, this is not coming from a negative place whatsoever. If your goal is to create a conversation, adding a tutorial (even in a pictorial way) is not the way to go. If your goal is getting more out of the motd posts then I think pictorials are a good alternative. From a proyect management perspective, just get your goals clear and then think of ways to accomplish them.
