I recently got the kat von d foundation and I like it but I'm having trouble applying it. It either looks cakey or I blend it so much that it's completely sheer. I want the coverage, just not the heavy look. Any tips. I've used the BB but I felt like it removed the product, but my primer also sucked so maybe I will try it again. Thanks.

I have it and I blend it in with my fingers and then go in with my beauty blender. I use the bare minerals primer for oily skin and it works perfectly I'm obsessed with it!

Looks like my answer didn't post.. I can't help you with that but I had the same issue. I really wanted to love this one! when I applied it, it was so heavy and cakey and horrible, but when I buffed it out more it didn't cover any of my redness. so it isn't just you! hopefully you find something that works.

I would apply it using my fingers then go in with the beauty blender to give it that finished look.

I'm with Sarah I wanted to love this so bad but it's just so cakey&&thick also made my face look full of open pores. maybe it is the foundation?

I usually add it to my face area by area with my finger and then I blend it with the beautyblender. It usually takes 1-2 layers of it depending on how sheer or heavy I want it.

I would use a beauty blender or a brush of some sort. When I used it, I applied with my fingers and it would look cakey as well. I also tried it on top of my BB cream and it was oil city on my face.

Thanks everyone, unfortunately I can't return it because I lost the box, but I got it when I had $20 off so it's not a major loss.

I mix 2:1 ratio. 2 pumps on loreal true match lumi and one hearty pump of Kat Von d. Perfect

Thanks everyone, maybe it was just my skin or the brush I used because when I did the, put it on with your fingers and blend it out with a bb, it worked really well. Fingers crossed it keeps working.

When I use it I moistuize using the sephora brand liquid moisturizer and then I use benefit porefessional primer then apply the kat Von d foundation using my fingers to dot and a damp beauty blender to blend. Idk if this will help or not but one "pump" of the kat Von d covers my whole face without cakey and perfect coverage so maybe you're using too much?

I use my moisturizer, hourglass mineral veil primer, porefessionals, then a pump of product (which is too much for my whole face). Maybe it's because my skin has been drier lately or I've been taking to long to blend it, and it dries super quick.
