So I have super oily skin with acne. When I put on foundation, my oils will break through within an hour of applying foundation. And, when I touch my face, I always always have foundation on my fingers. Especially around my nose. I use a primer, I set it with a powder, and use a setting spray. After I apply my foundation I try and take a damp beauty blender around my nose and stuff to try and make It not look cakey but nothing works. Is my skin just simply too oily?

I use a variety of primers. I will use porefessional, an Estée Lauder Matte primer, rimmel stay matte, or the fix and perfect rimmel primer. And I use Estée Lauder double wear foundation

Do you use all the primers at once??

I think you should stick to one. & make sure it's the right type for your skin

I don't use them all at once lol. I just alternate which ones I use. I just don't understand why the foundation comes off on my hands and stuff. Everyone else with oily skin that has used this foundation said it's worked so well, and they barely even have to blot. So maybe my skin is just super super oily.

Well since it's silicone based you need to use a primer that is also silicone based & a powder that is oil free. What setting spray are you using?

I use the oil control one from urban decay

I use this foundation for special occasions and I have way better foundation longevity when I skip the primer. I was having similar issues with it transferring onto whatever my skin touched when I paired it with a primer for some reason. I tried about 6 different primers and none of them helped. Now when I use it I just make sure to prep my face, (exfoliate and moisturize really well) skip the primer, apply my foundation, then I set my t-zone with powder and I'm done, I don't use setting spray with this product either.
If you happen to eventually find a primer that performs well with this foundation let me know!

So now it doesn't transfer as bad for you?

Now it doesn't transfer at all anymore! I highly suggest giving it a go without primer and see if it works for you as well.

Just as an example, back when I first got it and wore it to a fancy party and hugged a male friend of mine, who was wearing a black shirt, it had smudged onto his jacket. I felt so bad... Luckily that is not the case when I wear it without primer. I can hug on everyone in the entire room and not transfer onto anyone!

I will definitely try that then! I just figured it was the oil breaking the foundation down. Thank you!

You really should try a powder foundation, like bare minerals, works great for oily akin.

Are you moisturizing right before you prime? Because that can cause your foundation to just slide off.

I love that foundation, but lately when I apply it it goes on patchy and gross looking. I too have oily skin with acne honestly I would just trying switching your foundation and try another one. After a little while go back and try it out again. Also, remember to use a moisturizer specifically for oily skin. And use blotting sheets during the day. my skin gets weird sometimes with foundations.. One day it looks flawless, the next it goes on patchy and weird. And I too have tried everything lol good luck tho girly 👍

Yes I moisturize. I've tried many other drugstore foundations, and while people with oily skin rave about the ones I try, the same thing happens.

I would try a CC cream! Or switch you foundation! Try an oil control! :)

Maybe you moisturize too much. I would use a toner before priming. Hope I helped! :)

Exfoliate before you apply makeup?

This happens with all those primers? Well when using any poreless primer is a given that it will make your makeup slip because you have oily skin that primer is suited better for dry skin. When products say pore minimizer be aware if you have oily skin, what you need is a solid pure matte primer like Sephora collection's Anti shine base zero brilliance primer this is beyond the best true matte primer you need to work quickly with because it sets to a completely matte finish with no hassle.apply a little at a time only in your oily area's of the face, this primer works very well with estee lauder Foundation. Also remember don't apply the amount of primer like you would with Foundation because to much primer also could add to the makeup slip.

The problem may be in your foundation or primer or even both. To avoid being oily try to use a foundation that is especially formulated for oily skin & also a tip you can try is carry around blot sheets, they come in really handy! Next time you head out ask a professional for help & what is most suitable for your skin type, hope this helps.

You're welcome Traci :) when I work on a client's face I always ask what their skin type is so I'm able to have the right products to perform what is needed so I'm stocked with different types of everything lol

Alma can you recommend a primer for combination skin? I rarely use a primer, but lately I've been noticing that if I don't my makeup is starting to soak into my pores by late afternoon.
