Ok so lately I've been really playing with eyeshadow a lot. I think my blending techniques are really off cause the shadow then blends all together and look crappy :( I usually stick to the basic one color on the lid but want to try new looks this yr. so anyone who can give me some great advice know it's appreciated.  :)

When blending, always use different brushes to blend different colors.

Like you if have a dark brown in the crease use one brush, then for a transition color use a second brush, and so forth so you're not mixing the colors around which will make it look messy and muddy.

That's is my problem lol I'm in such a hurry I never use different brushes. I will dust it off on a non moist make up cotton  pad.

Can it also be the colors I'm trying to blend together that don't mesh well?

I agree with Renay. Just to add to what she said, I place my transition color all over the lid first. Then it kinda depends on what type of look I'm going for. Typically, I will then pack on my lid color, take a clean fluffy brush and lightly blend it so there are no harsh lines. Then I'll use a new brush for my crease and outer V color, place that down, and then using a new brush again, lightly blend that. I blend so that the colors stay in place so we don't make mud, but blend so that there's a graduation of color with no lines between.

Cindy, yes. I did a purple shadow look once and my instructor took one look at it and called it mud. I didn't understand color theory very well at the time and I had chosen purples that were too close together in color.

For me, depending on the eyeshadow, blending is easier or harder (probably because of the quality). what eyeshadows are you using?

I swirl my blending brush on an old cotton sock. I rarely use multiple brushes to blend various shades even though I have duplicate blending brushes.

When I do crease work I do use a different brush for that. But overall blending I stick to just using one.
