Okay so yesterday I decided to do a hairmask to hydrate my hair. It had avocado, banana, olive oil and honey. The thing is that while washing my hair I couldn't get the olive oil out of my hair. Later I found put that I had to wet my hair before putting the solution.😭😭
I use the no poo method which is instead of shampoo, I use baking soda, and instead of conditioner, I use apple cider vinegar.
In internet it said to put baking soda with water and leave it for like 20 minutes and it should rip out the olive oil, but I don't know if it will be enough.
Plus I have an event on wednesday😫😫😫 Please help meee🙏🙏

Omg, don't put baking soda on your hair! If you put an oil in your hair, it's best to use shampoo because if you don't, it'll be a lot more difficult to get the oils out. Next time I recommend using the olive oil by itself, keeping it on for at least thirty minutes, then rinse, shampoo and condition.

Both baking soda and vinegar are harsh on your hair and totally defeat the purpose of the hair mask. If you shampoo, the oil will come out no problem. You don't have to put the oil on your scalp, that'll make it harder to get out, just the middle and ends.

Agree with shanae. Not sure about the vinegar stuff but about the oils that's exactly what you do.

Baking soda is actually not too harsh on your hair and is very commonly used by no-pooers, but when using an oil you WILL wanna use shampoo to get it out, or at least a proper conditioner which will still have some detergents in it.

Baking soda is harsh for hair. Whether it's not too harsh or extremely harsh.

Baking soda is a very common alternative to shampoo, and while being pretty alkaline when compared to a lot of shampoos it is actually in the same PH range. As long as it's diluted and not used in excess it's is not dangerous for your hair, if used in excess it can cause a change in hair texture (like sodium hydroxide would) but without such drastic effects of course. Shampoo is ALSO "harsh" on the hair as any cleansing agent is going to be which is why conditioner is so necessary. I personally don't recommend apple cider vinegar as a conditioner simply because it isn't enough and will eventually end up drying your hair, I recommend a proper conditioner. Or if you would like to go no poo but without all the DIYS purchasing a good cleansing conditioner is key. Conditioner still contains mild detergent which are enough to cleanse your hair as long as you don't have a lot of product build up, but the baking soda method is good for 'deep' cleaning your hair every two or three weeks, a deep cleanse that isn't as harshas normal shampoo I feel is definitely key to a proper and positive no poo experience

I agree with Brittany baking soda isn't too harsh for hair
as I've used it for my hair and my hair still looks healthy and great

Baking soda does nothing more than neutralize ph balance in hair, using it for anything other than that can dry your hair out and cause it to break off. Apple cider vinegar can keep colored hairs color locked in longer and helps with dandruff, but overuse can cause extreme damage and make your hair dry and brassy. Both are harsh for hair, diluting it will do some justice, it probably won't hurt to use once, but using either could cause more problems than what you had before.

Hair has a general PH of 4 while Baking soda has the general PH of 9, it isn't going to throw off your balance at all if used as shampoo ESPECIALLY when using a conditioner after. Baking soda has been used since before commercial shampoos, because it does not corrode the hair as it would with something like skin. I'm honestly not sure why everything has to be a fight.

I'm simply sharing the information that I've learned, as well as you are. There's no arguing going on. I said baking soda is harsh, that's my opinion, you think otherwise and that's fine. I respect your opinion and your knowledge, Brittany.

Just two different opinions is all. I'm sure both of our information will help Maria out, that's all that matters, right..

Ok I did the dumbest thing ever. I put olive oil in my hair for fun. I went into the shower, and it didn't wash out!! So I was told to use DAWN soap... It really cuts the grease. It will get rid of the grease, but hurt your hair... I only recommend this- if it's the last thing you can do.. :) good luck!!
