How much makeup is okay makeup?

I have senior Pictures on Tuesday :) I was figuring what makeup look I was doing & I kinda already have an idea. But I was wondering what if it looks okay in person but horrible in the picture? Like I've seen some yearbook photos where the girls try the smokey eye and in the picture it just looks like a black eye. I really don't want to have a pretty makeup look & then look caked up or small eyes or too clowny in my picture I just want to look very pretty lol, what tips or makeup do you recommend I should do?

If you're taking professional pictures, I'd go with a natural look because professional pictures can alter the way makeup looks.

When it comes to questions like these, I think it depends entirely one the one who asks. I think whatever you're comfortable with and want to do is what you should do. No one can decide what's "okay" for you, other than yourself, you know?

Unfortunately for me, I totally forgot that I had my senior pictures and came to school a mess. Haha. But that's what editing is for 😉 I personally would use moisturizer/primer/foundation with no SPF or very low SPF to reduce the chances of flashback in your pictures. If you're advanced with your makeup, you can contour lightly so your face has dimension. I would skip out on blush since the lights make your face warm and flushed anyway. Apply your highlight (optional) to your cheek bones, brow bones and the Cupid's bow. Lightly fill in your eyebrows, and do a neural color eyeshadow look. A light brown in the crease with a champagne color on the lid. Add mascara and nude liner in your water line to make your eyes look more open. Put some nude gloss on your lips and you're done! Honestly I wished I would have worn a little more makeup than I did for mine. The camera really does wash everything out. I felt like I had a lot of makeup on but in my pictures it looked pretty normal/natural, which isn't always a bad thing but keep that in mind. If you wanna contour go for it, like Kaitlin said, if you're comfortable with it then go for it. I wouldn't use any thing too shimmery (unless its on eyes...). Keep it simple but pretty, I completely agree on the smokey eye looking like a black eye, but Pinterest really helped me in finding simple but pretty looks (I actually looked up wedding makeup for this but its simple but enough at the same time, classic).

In regards to Haileys comments, if you pick a powder whether setting or finishing, because the camera d I use flash I suggest going for a product the doesn't contain a high amount of talc or you may see experience the white powdery flashback result in your pics like many red carpeters do.

With photography, you want to wear a foundation with little to no SPF and a little bit of contouring looks nice. Make sure your brows are defined (if they need to be) and go a little extra on the mascara. When I did my pictures, I did a moderately thin winged eyeliner and it looked good. My only regret is not wearing anything on my lips besides Chapstick. They looked a bit washed out so perhaps a tinted Chapstick or a natural lip (or whatever shade is your forte)
