Hi Ladies! Hope everyone is enjoying the new year so far.

I have an interview coming up for a front desk position at a classy salon/spa. I usually work admin for corporate office so I wear more simple and professional looks but browsing the pics on their site the girls definitely dress more trendy and cute. Any advice for my look would be much appreciated! & I know I can browse pinterest and get inspiration, just wanted to see of any girls on here have experience and tips.

Regardless of how the girls that work there dress you need to go into the interview looking professional so stick with your usual professional attire. Keep the makeup simple and natural with your hair in a sleek bun or straightened/loosely curled. If/When you get the job you can ask about dress code.

Alexis is right. Stay professional. If you want to bump it up a notch, add a statement necklace or some trendy shoes (some colored heels or bedazzled flats).

I have to say, I'm a nurse, and for me, it's about dressing appropriately over smartly. Don't get me wrong, you should still look smart, but dressing appropriately for the job you're going for makes it easier to picture you in that role. For example, when I had my interview, I wore my hair up, nails short clean and polish free, and smart flat shoes. I wasn't going to be rushing about on a ward in heels, so it would have been silly to wear them. Just my experience personally, by all means dresses professionally and smartly, but also bear in mind get type of role you're going for :)

Thank you ladies. Alexis and Emily, I appreciate your input and I completely agree that one should always dress professionally to an interview but Ellie phrased it really well, there is a certain appropriateness to it as well regarding what is practical to the position. My usual professional attire in my would not be appropriate to this interview. From personal experience, I've had people tell me I'm over qualified before even looking at my resume. I guess I wasn't clear, but for my office I wear skirt suits with nylons and heels with a lack of color or individuality. Basically I don't know how to not look so corporate! Thanks again for taking the time to share your thoughts and help me :)
