Lol I wish biting nail habit was as easy as just painting your nails or getting them. I even bite at acrylics when I have them and could care less about the design on my nails from polish when I'm biting them. :( haha. Worst habit ever

I would file down your nails so that they are long enough to paint but not bite. Doing this will help get rid of the nail you have been biting. The acid in your salvia can wear down and thin out your nails. I had to keep mine filed for about 2 months until all the damaged nail had grown out. What really worked for me to stop biting was to tell someone and have them look at my nails once a week. It would make me self conscious over them so it make me more aware that I was biting them when I did.
You could also tell several people to tell you to stop when you do.I also recommend painting a clear coat on your nails to help strengthen them.
Things that did not work for me but do for most are:
•paint your nails with clear bad tasting polish.
•paint them.
•get acrylics
And one last thing if you have the urge to bite maybe carry around a hand cream and just rub your hands together, almost like playing with them. Or have a rubber band on your wrist and snap that.

Sounds gross and it is but it works! Rub garlic on your nails. They will taste so terrible, not to mention garlic is great for nail growth.

I've had this issue forever as well. When I get them really short I go get a set of gel nails done and eventually I end up picking those off too lol but by then my natural nail is at a normal length. Then I just try to keep them painted nicely so I won't want to ruin them. I also find using hand lotion on them helps when I go to bite because it isn't a good taste. It's really about replacing the habit. I find if I'm drinking water constantly all day then I'm not looking to pay with my nails. My best advice is if you can afford to get them done get a set of gel nails or shellac because you can't bite them if they're covered. And eventually you can wean yourself out of the habit. You just have to think about all the bacteria you're transferring to your skin and mouth from it!!
