Okay so, I use the Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Acne Scrub twice a day and I've read that using scrubs that frequently can harm your skin, is it true? Also, I've been looking into replacing that with the Say Yes to Tomatoes gel wash because I've heard incredible things about it for acne and I do tend to get quite bad acne. Do any of you have an opinion on it. And sorry to jump back to the Neutrogena face scrub but would it be okay to use that once or twice a week because it is quite good at clearing up my acne?

Honestly, it depends on the person and their skin. Using it twice a day is probably too much though. I exfoliate once a day and sometimes I skip a day and people say that it's way too much but it's what works for me. So, whatever works for you is what's best.

I exfoliate every morning and night because if I don't my skin breaks out.
it really depends on your skin.
I use to use that scrub and I loved it but now I use the clean & clear exfoliator which I love as well

I'm using the Say Yes to Tomatoes gel wash and it stinks pretty bad but its a nice face wash. Not a holy grail but it makes my face feel clean and isn't drying. I'm acne has cleared up some since I started using it but I'm using other things as well so I'm not sure if the face wash is the cause or not. If you want to change the scrub your using I recommend the Olay Fresh Effects Acne Hater scrub :)

If you have acne and/or oily skin, using a scrub twice a day will damage your skin and make it even worse. I recommend using your scrub once or twice a week, it will be enough :)

I exfoliate once everyday. People always say that it's bad for your skin, but it makes my skin flawless. I'm like Les, if I don't exfoliate I'll breakout. If it works for you then continue doing it.

I would say exfoliating twice a day is way to much but it depends on the exfoliated if it's a very strong one that pretty much rubs off a layer of skin then If say twice a week if it's sugar based or sand based or something like that. However if it's just one of them washes with a few tiny balls in it and you don't really feel them is say twice a day is fine

I think that I have to agree, exfoliating twice a day is a bit too much for your skin. I would recommend to use a 'light' exfoliation every second day, I am using the tea tree exfoliator because it's not really harsh.

I exfoliate twice a week, and it works well for me. But I have acne prone skin, and using it anymore than that would be damaging.

It depends on what you are exfoliating with - any sort of harsh bead or scrub that relies on a rough particle should be limited to once a week at the MOST because those particles are basically cutting into your skin and can cause a lot of irritation and dryness - now of course if you have tough skin that is really oily - it might be able to handle this - but even then you could be making it worse... But if you use a chemical exfoliant like a BHA or AHA (also known as salicylic acid and glycolic acid) then these are gentle enough for daily use and also exfoliate in the sense of deeply cleansing the skin to remove dead skin cells and dirt from pores in a different way than harsh scrubs - everyone's skin is different and if you can get away with using a scrub every day then fine but in the long run your skin will probably suffer from the abrasive nature of the scrub - so I would limit it to once a week and switch to a chemical exfoliant - especially if you already have dry and/or sensitive skin.

I would try exfoliating once a day if you can. I agree it also depends on what you're exfoliating with. Some exfoliants are a lot more harsh and contain sharper things in them which is cutting your skin without you noticing. If you notice any inflammation it's probably due to over using your exfoliator. I would personally use it about 3-4 times a week but everyone's skin is different.

You can exfoliate more than once a day , for instance if your using Alpha hydroxy acid , and then retinol , or a clarisonic at night and a chemical exfoliater in the daytime , should you use a scrub with jagged particles twice a day no. it really should not be used at all , a scrub made with jojoba beads twice a week is fine

And once you reach my age...exfoliating once a day is a must. I use enzyme peels for daily use but sometimes I'll skip a few days and use a more intensive product to do the job. AmorePacific Enzyme Peel for light exfoliation and M-61Power Glow Peel for heavy duty which is a glycolic/salicylic acid mix.
