I went to the tanning bed for the first time in my life yesterday! I was only in there for 5 minutes lol I didn't wear any lotions or anything but I did get a decent color for only 5 minutes :) I'm not planning on doing this everyday, but I just want to achieve a nice golden tan for this season :) with being new, I'm not so sure of any of the products people use to tan safely, and to get darker.. Any tips & what products to recommend? Please and thank you!😊💕

I don't know much but I am pretty sure tanning beds are bad for you. You should try fake tan. Or laying in the sun but with lots of sunscreen because to much sun is bad too.

Oh no no don't use a tanning bed! That's such an easy way to get skin cancer, dark circles, wrinkles, etc. I would use natural glow lotions. I love Jergens, but the color definitely is gradual. If you want more immediate color, I also love the sephora tinted self tanner spray. I use a mitt and have never gotten uneven color. It looks natural too.

I agree with the ladies about not to scare you but you are exposed to you've lights in tanning beds and anytime you tan even your first tan can cause melanoma which is a skin cancer I personally would use tanning lotions like xen tan which is at ulta and then there is also st. tropez at ulta and sephora. but however if you choose not to use the tanning lotions and would rather tan in the beds I know jwow has some good tanning bed lotions but since you are a beginner I would talk to the people at the tanning salon and most *dark* tanning lotions say not for use for beginners because they could make you burn.

I talked to a girl at my gym about the tanning beds. she said that tanning beds do not contain harmful you've rays compared to the sun. however it doesn't mean that they're safe. I can't completely remember exactly what she said to me because it was a couple months ago but I would recommend talking to a person that works there about it. the sun can be just as bad and I don't recommend laying outside even with sunscreen. if you are using a tanning bed you have to make sure your skin type is compatible. I for example cannot use one because I have extremely pale skin that usually burns. some people tan easily which should be okay to use a tanning bed. from what I've heard 5 minutes is way too long to be in there for your first time especially without lotion. you should not see a change in your skin colour after the first couple sessions. you should be applying a tanning lotion amd wearing goggles and only start off with about 2 minutes maybe once or twice a week.

Of course tanning beds contain harmful you've rays but apparently they're a bit different conpared to the natural sun.

The "tanning bed UV rays aren't dangerous" is false, started by tanning salons in order to keep their clients. Any ultraviolet radiation can be harmful. UV nail lights or dental lights (used to harden acrylic or sealants on both nails and teeth) as well as certain UV sterilization devices are regarded as generally safe because you aren't exposing yourself very long nor very often, and the UV radiation from these devices is pretty weak.
Tanning beds, however, are strong unfiltered radiation, hitting your entire body at once. Most people use inadequate or no protection, and use the beds multiple times. Think of it like walking into a nuclear reactor: you may not get sick immediately just by going in once, but there's a chance you will and that chance multiplies EXPONENTIALLY every time you go back.
Anyone can get skin cancer, and everyone experiences cell damage from UV radiation REGARDLESS of skin tone or ability to tan. Tanning itself is the cells' reaction to damage. People with more melanin (deeper tones) may experience less damage than those who are more pale, but it is a myth that tanning is safe for any population.
Laying out in the sun is also dangerous. The only safe tan is a fake tan. Take it from someone who has had skin cancer four times and has to deal with the lasting ramifications from it- don't sacrifice your health for vanity or out of carelessness. Protect your skin; it is your body's largest organ and it's up to you to keep it safe.
