I'm black and have no idea how to contour but would love to learn! What's the best kit do start with? What kind of brushes should I have? Thank you!

How deep is your skin tone? And are you interested in powder or cream?

While I've never used it, the NYX wonder stick seems really amazing. One side is a cream contour and the other is a highlight. They come in different shades to suit any skin tone and also have a map/guide deal :)

NYX Wonder Sticks are AMAZING. If it fits your skin tone, check out the NYX Contour and Highlight Pro Palette! If not, look at Anastasia, which is more expensive.

I think you should try the new smash box contour sticks! They are great for beginners, I also am a person of color and they still applied well on me:)

Since you are of a darker complexion I would say focus more on highlighting rather than contouring also focus on your blush placement a little more:)

The nyx contour palatte recieved mixed reviews, so I defintely would not reccomend it. the anastasia contour kit or the kat von d shade and light palatte are both beautiful choices for contouring if you want to spend the extra buck.

Defintely identify your face shape to start with (I.e round, heart, etc) and makesure you blend! when you blend with the proper brush, it makes all the difference.

The kat von d shade and light has a dual-sided brush which contains a angled side for contouring and a tapered side for highlighting. you defintely want to get brushes that are similar to those and also get a brush to blend with. hope I helped!
