I usually match to my neck since my body is naturally a little tanned but my face isn't the same color. If I happen to fall between colors then I get the lighter shade and just warm my face up with bronzer. I also have neutral undertones but I find that cool toned foundations make me look too pink and pale so I go for warm toned foundations.

I personally started going slightly darker with my foundation. It makes my skin look more radiant. It's seldom that someone will find their definite true match so going slightly darker I feel is being on the safe side. I find if I go slightly lighter I tend to look a little washed out. Then I have to used extra product to correct it.

Also, try taking an up-close picture with flash of you wearing ONLY your foundation. That'll show if it's truly your match. Hope this helps.

I was so obsessed trying to find my perfect match but when I did I found it really washed me out. So now I'm quite content at being a shade slightly darker.

I actually got matched at Sephora with their Skin ID. I'm one of those people who gets aggravated when I go into any cosmetic store and am hounded by sales staff. But the shade I was matched to was significantly darker than what I had been wearing. I'd go in and ask in store, and I like for my foundation to match my chest.. You can always buy a concealer a couple shades lighter to brighten up the high points on your face.
