You are also quite near Woodbury Common Outlets for some great shopping!

Wow, this really is a small world! Now I know who to go to when I have some questions about the area! I'll see about taking the train into the city every once in awhile! Driving there doesn't bother me (it's basically the same distance as driving to Disneyland from where I live now which is not a big deal to me) but I know parking in the city is ridiculous so thanks for the tip! I'm extra excited now (:

OH MY GODDDD NO WAY LOL. I can't believe you're moving to the Catskills, I used to live so close to Middletown! Twenty minutes or so North lol, but the Galleria at Middletown was the closest mall / closest restaurants / stuff to do. Such a small world hahahaha, when I tell people I lived upstate they're always like "what?!" You're pretty close to Bethel Woods (Where Woodstock was) and they have a bunch of concerts and stuff up there in the summer, totally worth checking out :)
Also the train into the city only takes like 45 mins from Middletown, super convenient compared to driving. I used to love taking the train into Manhattan for the day 😭😭
I hope you like it!! I'm going to keep bugging you after you're there and see how you like it / how you're adjusting lol <3

Hey Alexis all the best! I have lived in Buffalo for my masters (which basically means no car and 10-15 minutes walk in snow every time I was going somewhere). I went there directly from a decent hot humid area in India :) everybody here helped you alrdy with the clothings but my only advice will be to mentally prepared and not be much worried about the cold :) I was pretty sure that the cold will be way too much than I ever thought and it really did help me...

Lol that's what I was thinking.

Yeah, it's probably easier to move a few states over rather than clear across the country!

Lol I don't really like it here either. I prefer cold more than hot. I think I'll stick with possibly moving to Colorado. It's a lot closer to Texas than ny!

Shanae, I visited New York quite a few years ago in the winter and we got snowed in for 3 days, it was horrible! Plus I don't handle cold well so this will definitely be an interesting move. I lived in Texas for a year! I hated it so I moved back to California.

I'll be moving to Middletown, it's about an hour and a half from the city. I have gloves somewhere, I'll just have to find them!

I am aware you just had a blizzard. I live in southern California so I don't really have proper snow clothes, just working with what I have (:
