I think it is so much easier to look fashionable in cold weather than it does in warm weather! I love jackets and coats, so I have TONS in my collection (even though I live in the south and its hot all the time). I personally find a lot of my awesome coats and jackets at thrift stores, I usually find a lot of affordable leather and fur at thrift stores which is AWESOME! Whenever I am looking for something really quickly and inexpensively, I usually go to Target. They surprisingly have decent looking stuff! If I can wait to find something, I usually order off ASOS.com since they have tons of awesome stuff at really affordable prices.
Forever 21 is just okay. Get your tend pieces there, but don't get too attached to anything since their quality is not very good. I usually love their accessories and they last an appropriate time, but I never waste money on any staple items... just go for trends there.
As for what to wear, I love wearing dresses or skirts with colored tights and socks that go over the knee. Boots are great too! I personally wear a lot of Doc Martens but I also have a couple of pairs of chic leather riding boots for a more formal look. I love statement jackets-anything interesting wether its the fabric or the cut, I always like something fashion forward but I do enjoy wearing classic coats as well. One of my favorite coats from last year (which seems to be more on trend this year) is a midi-length black wool trench with leather sleeves and a leather waist belt/sash... classic cut but on trend with the texture-play. You can also layer sweaters. Big fan of EVERYTHING oversized paired something exceptionally well fitting. I usually wear completely tailored looks with an over sized sweater/cardigan or fitted tops with large, sheer tops over them. One of my staples every year for AGES has been large chunky kitted infinity scarves wrapped once around my neck and once draped over my head like a loose hood (and it always makes your hair look super pretty when its down). If I'm wearing boring outfits (which I try never to do), I love wearing cool winter accessories like colored leather gloves or giant furry earmuffs or a fur pillbox hat.
