I need help! I have such dry skin and I'm at a lost for what to do. It makes my foundation look cake-y, even the dewiest, lightest foundations.

I've tried everything from skincare (different lotions, creams, masks, cleansers, toners, etc.) NOTHING WORKS. I'm still a dry skin mess.

Makeup wise, I've tried primers (Hourglass, UD, MUFE, Laura Mercier, etc) and nothing helps my foundation not look as cakey.

I'm like an elephant I promise lol it's so frustrating!

Any advice or insight?

Cetaphil has a face lotion that's about the consistency shortening. It works great for dry skin.

This stuff. My dad has Crohn's disease which causes dry skin and he swears by it.

If your face is dry around your mouth.. your lips will also probably start to get dry!! To keep my lips moisturised and soft overnight I use Vaseline and throughout the day I use Dermal Therapy Lip Balm. (Do not use Lip Smakers or Babylips when trying to moisturise lips.. they pretty much make it worse!)

When you have a dry face try not to use super matte makeup and not to over wash your face cause that'll get rid of any moisturiser, I like to moisturise using Nourish Naturals Dry Skin Lotion its GREAT I love it (my doctor gave it to me <3) I use it twice a day (my skin is combinational but is has been leaning over to the dry side ever since I started taking medications for my acne; which I knew would happen so I was prepared)

Also stay hydrated, drink water.. some fans tho dry out skin

Do you drink a lot of water? I'm afraid I can't help you with moisturizer suggestions, as I haven't found anything that works for me either, but my skin is always at it's worst when my soda addiction gets the best of me. I mostly drink coke and coffee, but I find that when I drink water my skin gets so much nicer. Kicking the soda habit is awful though...I haven't managed to succeed yet. If your skin is dry even after numerous lotions, it's probably a problem with dehydration/your diet/maybe even hormones. Your dermatologist could probably recommend you a cream if it's super bad, but drinking a lot of water should definitely help. :) Good luck!

If you haven't Tried the Josie Maran Creamy Argan oil..give it a try you can buy small trial tubes on amazon. I put this all over my face at night, I look like an oil slick, but my face is so hydrated my morning. then I put my Josie Maran Argan Oil Light on and let it soak in, then put my moisturizer on...my face has been so much more hydrated since this routine.

What's your skincare routine like right now? Do you have one? Is your skin naturally really dry or is it a side effect of something else?

Thank you ladies! You've all been such great help and I'm going to try each of your recommendations xx

Hannah - my skin is just naturally very very dry. My skincare routine now is using the Simple face wash, Clarins Toning Lotion for normal/dry skin & First aid beauty ultra repair cream!

Sorry I took awhile to get back to you! I think that giving 100% jojoba oil is definitely worth a shot. I was having these really irritating dry patches on my face and as soon as I started using my jojoba oil my face was so moisturized and soft!

Hmm. I'd recommend a heavier cream, personally I don't like the First Aid Beauty cream, I just don't feel like it's very moisturizing. Try Korres moisturizers, my personal favorite is the Wild Rose line but the Yogurt one is great as well for hydration. Another thing you want to do is add an occlusive on top to seal in the moisture. Personally I use the Yu•be cream when my skin is incredibly dry. Some use Vaseline but I simply don't like the feeling of that on my skin. You may also want to try a non-soap face wash, I.e. one that doesn't foam or contain sulfates. I'd recommend a cleansing balm, actually, Ren's Rosa Centifolia is a personal favorite of mine and even after washing it leaves my skin feeling incredibly soft and hydrated, rather than tight across my face like some cleansers do. If you can, also scale back your face washing to once a day with the Simple wash.

Hannah W - Have heard nothing but great things about the Korres line, so I am definitely going to be trying them, most likely the Yogurt one! Thank you so much for your help sweet lady!

Anytime, hon =) my face is also incredibly dry and sometimes it just completely freaks out so I've kind of got my routine for that down at this point.

When I have super dry skin I use these at night as a mask. This is for overnight heal. Then in the morning I use the JM argan oil. It works so well. These are my life saver. You don't need high end products.
