I think the same, Tami! That's why I only buy makeup I'm sure I can use on a day-to-day basis, monthly in the least. I research my makeup a lot before I buy it and ask myself- do I really want this and can I use it everyday? I also try not to make my collection excessive, so I can use most of my products and they don't go to waste. I am not willing to dish out $70 for a face cream btw.

As a girl who wears glam makeup everyday (winged liner, falsies, foundation, highlight etc.) and never wears simple or "natural" makeup, I like to make sure I'm using good quality products.
of course there is good quality products at the drugstore I'm just picky.
I just don't like using a $1-2 eyeshadow, lipstick, foundation, etc.
I know Sephora and MAC have amazing quality products and I really only buy from them.
Of course, it does depend on the product though.
I won't pay more than $30 for fake eyelashes because I know there is amazing brands for $5 lashes.
but on the other hand, I'm willing to pay $70 for a foundation.
I can't find good drugstore foundations made for my skin type.
I'm very picky when it comes to certain makeup items.

If there is girls who have ton of money to blow on makeup then let them, it isn't your or my business.
as long as it makes them happy then we shouldn't worry about them.

I personally would shell out that money for a product but maybe it's because I do anyways as a artist but that doesn't mean I don't also buy a product for a $1 which I do as well in fact most artist do if we truly like it not everything is in the up scales.I think it's a personal treat for all no Matter the cost, if we like it and feel we can do it I say go for it nothing wrong with it. I think men do the same with stuff they like, I have a friend who buys figurines it's his hobby and some are quite expensive but it's something he likes. I do agree cosmetics are growing in cost but I also noticed how every line no matter the cost has upped their game which is nice. Makeup is always a hidden treasure no matter the cost if you don't have a broader mind open to it all you may be missing out. :)

I'd spend what ever the price of the product as long as its something I like 😊

Tami, be happy to live where you do in terms of the price of makeup!
Where I live, in denmark a Maybelline mascara costs 17$ a Rimmel mascara (which is the cheapest we got) cost 10$.
When we buy a makeup product we pay extra 25% taxes on every product. So if a eyeshadow is 10 $ we end up paying 12,5$ for the item!

I'm the same when it comes to lipsticks. Simply because I have incredible lipsticks that last all day and they all only costed 3-12 dollars. I'm not big on eyeshadow and I have a really nice palette from ELF which is incredible qualify for the price (I'm sure there's better eyeshadow, but I just don't wear it enough and I'm not good enough at it to spend $20 on one pan). However, when it comes to foundation, I spend $40 dollars on my current one because it's the only one I've found that works on my oily, acne prone skin. I would love to have a drugstore foundation that worked but none of them have. I also don't spend a lot on eyeliner because I have one that works perfectly for me and it's about $6. I wear makeup a lot so should I improve my eye makeup skill, I wouldn't have a problem saving up to get a nice palette. It's all preference I supposed.

I agree makeup is getting expensive these days. I find some products are worth it. I strongly suggest if you can get your hands on free samples of the product you want to try I would do that before. I too have bought cheaper priced makeup and higher end and usually I'm happy with both. I recently found a way to make my own lipstick using crayon and coconut oil and it works just as well and is very cost effective. I still like a classic lipstick ;) I have to be convinced the 70 dollar product is worth it. if it does wonders I'll buy it but if I can get it cheaper on all over the cheap side!

I'm a high school student so I currently only buy drugstore makeup, and I like cheaper brands
But I do buy high end things as a special treat sometimes and I get expensive makeup for my birthday and Christmas
Like when it first came out I got the naked 3 palette for Christmas and last week I got the Nars sheer glow foundation and for my birthday I treated myself to Anastasia brow products
But majority of my makeup is drugstore
And I love my drugstore makeup and don't feel the need to have all high end stuff
But I think it's fine when people only use expensive makeup and it's fine when people only use cheaper makeup
Just use whatever works for you I guess :)

I think it all depends on the person and how much money they have. Makeup is my passion, but I do have a hard time spending a lot of money on some stuff, but if I've been eyeing it for a while, and really want it I'll totally shock out the money, whatever it maybe. I buy mostly drugstore products, for as I'm a high school student, can't afford the high end, and usually can't get a ride to my local makeup store. And I usually wait for a coupon or gift card if I'm going to buy it. Like the naked pallets, I have the naked2, and I bought it for a birthday present for myself, and I had a coupon, and a $10 gift card, so I ended up paying $30 for mine, rather than $55. It just all depends on the person, there financial, and how much they love the product and makeup. But I always make sure to grab a sample of something no matter where I go :)
