I personally don't know about aloe. My bf uses it for dry scalp and it works amazing. I use morroccan oil. its a bit expensive but it works miracles. I have curly hair and use it mainly on wet hair but also dry.

I have really dry hair as well. I find that washing my hair in cold water really helps. It makes everything shiny and softer. It also makes my hair less prone to damage. Also try hair masks. I use Kenra (pretty sure that's what it's called) and it smells good and works great. I've also heard great things about macadamia deep repair mask. On days your hair is extra dry, I like to put in olive oil, but only to the ends of my hair so my hair doesn't look greasy. To prevent more dammage, cut off all of your split ends and damage and I recommend purchasing a wide tooth comb or wet brush to brush your hair when you're out of the shower.

Shea butter is great! Cantu have some products with shea butter in them if you're interested in getting products. Though raw shea butter I really like, but I'm suprised olive oil didn't work it's pretty moisturizing for my really dry hair. Jojoba is also good too.

I agree with Triara. Cantu has great moisturizing, inexpensive hair products. They're moisturizing curl activator cream is one of my favorites.

To me it sounds like you have low porosity hair like me. To check out a strand of hair in a cup of water if it floats it's low porosity if it sinks to the middle of the cup you're normal and if it goes all the way to the bottom it's high porosity. If you indeed have low porosity hair like I do, the problem is getting moisture in. Once it's in it will stay in without the use of oils or butters (which could be why all oils seem oily in your hair) I use a heat cap to help raise the cuticle and let the deep conditioner in, afterwards I use a leave in conditioner that's water base with oils that are low on the ingredient list. If I feel the need to seal with oil I use avocado, I find that it is light and not too oily. My favorite deep conditioner is the bee mine Be-You-tiful deep conditioner it's amazing!

Grab an avocado, olive oil and an egg mix everything really well apply it on your ends thats the secret because if you apply it on your roots your hair gets super greasy. Try it, it's great hair food.
