Waterproof mascara will hold the curl the best. For drugstore mascara I love Maybelline Great Lash so look for the waterproof formula (:

I also suggest the maybes line falsies flared mascara in waterproof. Water proof mascara tends to hold curls all day

I don't know the american price but I absolutely love the Maybelline Lash Sensation mascara. Its really amazing and my HG mascara!

I don't have a mascara suggestion because this has worked for me for any mascaras that I've had, but what helps me is after you curl your lashes, only apply the mascara at the middle/tips of the lashes, not near the roots, and then when that coat dries apply from the roots up! I think it helps since the mascara wouldnt weigh down the curled part as much, but definitely try it out it helps me so much! :)
