Hey guys,

I've been using Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant because I've read and heard that it works well for combination skin, although it doesn't seem to be helping with ridding the dry flakey patches on my cheeks!

I tried using it daily which I guess somehow reduced the flaking but the dry texture stayed on my cheeks. I also thought that using it 2-3 times a week only might help, but that only made the dryness feel like I want using it at all. I've been using the product for about 3 months without it helping much.

Can you recommend an exfoliator which may actually work for me? Clearly my dry cheeks are what irritate me the most.

Thanks!!

What are you using to moisturize?

You could try something non-abrasive like a chemical exfoliant in the form of a BHA or AHA - AHAs are usually more gentle than BHAs.

I'm using Khiel's Ultra Facial Moisturizer.

Thanks for the suggestion Diana, I never really thought about that! May need to give it a go.

I don't care for the so-called DAILY exfoliator. If you can use it daily then its not scrubby enough. This is for my skin only. I'm not saying this goes for everybody. I've got sturdy skin. I've tried a lot of scrubs, good and bad. And to tell you the truth, I hate spending money on scrubs esp. the ones I really like, like Skinn Dermapeel. So, I just use rice powder. Sometimes I emulsify it with coconut oil and sometimes with water (never water & oil together ) depending on what my skin needs. Its scrubby without being harsh. Ands its cheap. I bought a 3lb bag for $5.

Exfoliating is making it worse!! You need to moisturize, over exfoliating dry skin can just aggravate it. Here's a great article on dry skin hopefully this helps! http://dailymakeover.com/dry-skin-donts/

I did think at one point that I was only making it worse somehow, but never thought it again.

Thanks for all the help! I think I'm going to stay away from the rough scrub  exfoliators.
