Hey guys! I'm new so I hope I'm doing this right!! Anyways, I need help learning how to make my hair grow. I got it cut last year into a really cute stacked bob but because I'm so active I just don't have time to take 30 minutes everyday to style it. Some things I'm doing that help is taking biotin everyday, putting leave-in conditioner at the tips, and massaging the scalp everyday before I go to bed. I also use heat protectant and never straighten it, just blow dry on the coolest setting. I also only use a comb when my hair is wet so I don't rip it. However, my hair is super thin and fine and so I have to wash it everyday (I don't if I'm just staying home). Is there any good dry shampoo I can use for about $10? (College student on a budget!) and what's some other things that I can do to make it grow?

I wouldn't take biotin because unless you have a deficiency because it can cause serious harm.

As for a dry shampoo I love the one by not your mothers. it's only $4 at Walmart(and its huge!!), does the job and smells wonderful!

Don't take biotin without consulting a doctor. It can be very dangerous as Justine said. Hair growth is genetics and there is no miracle product to make it grow faster. As for dry shampoo, I love the Aussie? I'm not for sure if that's the one, but it's only like $3-4, comes in a purple tube, and it smells amazing.

Be sure to get your hair cut every 6 weeks. It will make those dry ends healthy before they have a chance to break shorter than what you want. I have fine hair too and mine has grown so much over the past year because of regular cuts. Ask your hairdresser to cut your hair dry and only take off the absolute minimum. Although if the last time you got it cut was a year ago she may have to take off more than you are wanting but it will be worth it when you see a growth spurt after!

100% agree with shannie. If you have no split ends, cutting it is just cutting healthy hair and you'll never see any long term results. I cut my hair when I need it, which is about twice a year. I don't damage my hair much so I no longer get as many split ends so when I notice some, I get it cut. If I had cut my hair every 6 weeks, even a dusting, I would no longer have almost down to my bum hair and would have nearly shoulder length hair.

I have been in the same boat as you (although I was growing out a pixie) and my personal opinion is, like Stacie said is to get regular cuts. Although it seems like the opposite of what you are wanting to do, which is grow it out, by the end you don't want to have long hair that is damaged, but long hair that is healthy, if you know what I mean. I think how much time in between cuts really depends on your hair, for example my hair is pretty strong so I can go eight weeks, but I have a friend who has really weak hair that gets split ends so easily that she has to go every 5. I would talk to your hairstylist, and see what is right for your hair, but I think they would agree regular appointments is the way to go. Trust me, I thought it was ridiculous at first when I started growing out my hair, but now my hair is a good four inches below my shoulder :) as of now, I haven't gone to my hairstylist in about 2 months due to a lot of traveling and I can see how much of it is getting coarse at the bottom :(

Also, I would try coconut oil treatments, to make your hair stay healthier. I do this almost once every other week, and it really seems to help. Just do it on a day when you do have to go anywhere important bc it can make your hair look a little greasy when you are doing the treatment haha. But afterwards my hair is silky smooth :) plus massaging it is an added bonus
I really hope I helped :)

Lots of water and minimal heat styling if you can help it! And trims every so often to get rid of any split ends
