I have used Dr. Bronner's concentrated liquid soap to clean my brushes but it's not travel friendly. So I thought I'd give the bar a try.
I picked the one with peppermint and I love it. I quickly cleaned my brushes and made my natural brushes look grand spanking new with a light peppermint scent. The hairs also felt soft and it left zero residue. As if they were conditioned.
Another plus is that the bar soap only set me back about $4 and some change at Target. As it worked great with both my synthetic and natural hair brushes I probably will stop purchasing the MAC cleanser as well. I never thought I would be saying this but I found a true HG cleansing product for my brushes.
It's worth checking out and the Dr. Bronner's line can be found at most health food stores and Target.

Glad you made a post about this. I myself don't use any cleanser for brush cleansing. I use Nubian heritage lemongrass tea tree soap (yellow box) It cleans and disinfects! Another plus that these natural based product soap bars... It's amazing at cleaning beauty blender type sponges!! Forget about buying that expensive soap at sephora haha!

I love it Livi! I'm trying to transition to products that are off the beaten path...not the mainstream lines and brush cleansers aren't excluded.

I agree, I think the only most mainstream product I use for skin care is the Murad c cleanser and skin polish. Is nude skincare mainstream?

NUDE Skincare...yes and no as its not sold everywhere like ULTA or most department stores. But its popularity is gaining so I foresee it gaining more stocklists. I love independent lines and I pray that they don't sell out to a big conglomerate like Korres did.

Shelled my mom gave me a bar of the Kirk's castile soap to try on my brushes. It worked nicely as well. Dr. Bronner's seems to always be sold out in my area.

I also used it on my beauty blenders.

I have yet to try it on my BeautyBlender Ema even though that sucker needs to be cleaned. I've been using a foundation brush lately and fell in love with it all over again. Dr.Bronner's is always sold out in my Target and I only do health store once a month so I was shocked to see it myself.

I'll definitely be checking this out! I haven't thought to use that brand for my brushes, I'm currently using the Hakuhodo liquid brush cleanser and it just leaves my brushes really clean in a jiffy.

You're welcome ladies...I just wanted to provide everyone with an alternative cleansing method for makeup brushes. Gonna clean my BeautyBlenders with it and if it passes the test I'm really going to be over the moon happy.

I use it for everything from body wash to toilet cleaning! It's amazing on brushes. I haven't tried the bar version, I'd love peppermint scented brushes!!

Laura the scent doesn't last too long though. It is nice when in the middle of cleaning.

I'm in Los Angeles, California. They even sell Dr. Bronner's in most grocery stores and drug stores here.

I use the liquid in the lavender scent and it works really well too. I never y hought to get it in bar form but I bet that'd turn out costing even less:)! Thanks Shelley!

Angela - What water-to-liquid soap ratio do you use? I tried dr bronners liquid as brush cleanser once and it didn't work out so well. I'd give it a try again because we have a bunch of the stuff lying around

I don't measure it but I'd guess it's probably about 80% soap and 20 water. Just enough water to get it real sudsy:)

I don't have a Target nearby (nor any stores realty, lol), but I'd be interested in even trying it in the shower/tub too. My parents buy cheap stuff and it thrashes my skin horribly.
