Lately I've been experimenting with various lip colors and formulas. Some have been super gentle and non-drying while some have left my lips brutalized in the worst way.
Like our face we also must cleanse our lips as well...just not with our regular facial cleanser though. That means going in and removing the days lip product...even if it's just a colored lip gloss. For the past few weeks I've fallen into this routine where I dip a q-tip into sweet almond oil and run it all over my lips after cleansing my face. And it was mind-blowing to see residual lip color on the q-tip. Yuck. I found this nightly process actually lightly exfoliates my lips and gives them a nice pinky flush as well. I then apply a little Sara Happ Lip Balm (the one that comes in a jar). Wake up the next morning and lips feel comfortable and moisturized.
Sometimes I will do the same process in the morning except skipping out on the lip balm. I will allow the sweet almond oil to settle into my lips as I apply the rest of my makeup and by the time I get to the lips they are ready for lip color.
Over time the pigments in lip products can darken one's lips and coupled with dryness it's not a pretty combination. So don't leave your lips out during your cleansing routine.

I use sweet almond oil to remove my lip color as well! I usually leave a bit behind though, and seal it in with some rose salve. My lips are so soft when I wake up!

Yay Kailey! I haven't tried it with my rose salve yet. I have so many lip balms I'm trying to use them up one at a time so I can move on to the ones I haven't cracked open yet.

Oh yes Shelley! Great thread. I use my makeup remover of almond oil/ Thayer's witch hazel to do all these. It's amazing! And I agree about the remnants of the lip colors... They do stick lol!!

I made my own brown sugar scrub combo ( brown sugar, coconut oil, Vitamin E oil an dilivd oil) and I use it on my lips sometimes too.
