My Eyelashes Are Too Spidery Looking, Help?

No matter what I do my eyelashes always tend to look spidery, that's fine sometimes but right now I'm into the natural look so I just want to use mascara so you can see I actually have eyelashes(mine are very light). Is there something I'm doing wrong, or is there something different I can do to achieve the look I want?
