Hi! I'm 20 this year but I'm already facing hair fall problems since a few years ago. My parting line is really obvious all time. I've went to salons for scalp treatments but they don't seem to help much.
I've started using kerastase products for thinning hair, their 'stimulate' range shampoo and hair spray for the scalp about 1-2 months ago and I've yet to see much improvements. My hairstylist told me I have oily scalp but my hair is quite damaged and dry. My hair texture is considered thick to coarse. (I have natural straight to wavy hair but I've permed my ends a few months ago)
So which concludes I cannot use any heavy shampoos as it would make my scalp even more oily. However if I use a cleansing shampoo, my hair would be too dry and frizzy.
Would love to hear from you girls if you have any life changing products that you cannot live without for your hair and scalp? I'm interested to know anything from scalp tonic, sprays, shampoos treatment conditioner to leave ons oil and stuffs to help my frustrating situation.

I used the moisture line by Paul Mitchell and it changed my hair dramatically - but also regular trims helped too / my hair was damaged from dying it blonde and it took over a year to recover but after it did it was so healthy and I rarely saw split ends after that - even now I only see them 6 months or more after a trim - I also have an oily scalp but my ends are dry so I only used the conditioner on my ends and for my cleansing shampoo I used the Paul Mitchell awapuhi line - it's deep cleansing but not over drying which is great.

Tbh I was worried about my hair and scalp as well and I did everything I could to fix it. I eventually went to a hair and scalp specialist and had a free consultation. It was probably the best decision I made. And if you are worried about your hair and scalp a lot I would go see one as well. While Reny is 100% right, you kinda need to talk to someone who knows a lot and who can look at your situation. Jump on the internet n see if there is a specialist around you who will offer a free consultation! Hope that helps and good luck.

I have an oily scalp, but dry ends. I personally use suave clarifying shampoo (though you mentioned you can't use those) for conditioner, I use tresseme and/or a coconut oil mask. I only wash my hair 2-3x a week because it will give your hair time to restore its natural oils.

My hair falls out like crazy when I'm super stressed (which stresses me out more) and the only thing that works for me is Nioxin. I'll be honest, it smells kinda bad, and dries out my hair, but it really works. I just had to up my deep conditioning to 3 times a week rather than 1 (I use shea moisture 10 in 1, it's lovely). If you decide to go this route, just know you won't see results immediately. It took about 4-5 weeks for me, but it really helped. If it's a little too pricey, Sally's has a generic called Nutri-Ox. Good luck!

The amount of money spent on products that may or not work...you are better off seeing a specialist like Terri mentioned. The type of specialist you will want to see is called a Trichologist. All they do is study the hair/scalp and diagnose accordingly. Not knowing exactly what is going on and self treating could cause more damage than good. I don't know where you reside but for research purposes check out Philip Kingsley's website. Click on The Hair Guide and it will give you a wealth of info. He has clinics in London and New York. If here in the United States contact the US Trichology Institute and they should provide you with a list of specialists according to where you live.

I agree with the ladies, a specialist is the best route.

Thanks ladies, will definitely go to a Trichologist for help, like what Shelley mentioned, before I try out any other products. Thanks for the suggestions!
