I'm trying to squeeze a lot of questions in here ;) lately I have been considering getting a 1 1/4 and a 1 1/2 inch curling iron or wand.
This leads me to my first question; would you get a wand or an iron? I already have a 1 inch iron and I sometimes use the clamp, but I usual just leave the clamp be and wrap my hair around the iron as I would with a wand, so I am not entirely sure whether to invest in a wand or an iron.

Also I am unsure about the brand of my new tools. I saw some conair wands and irons by Phillips and babyliss. Unfortunately my trusted brand only produces one inch ones so I need your opinions.
If it's any help - my hair is quite thin and goes down below my boobs.

If you were to pick a barrel out of the 1 1/4 and the 1 1/2 inch one - which one would you pick?

Sorry for all of these questions, but thanks for taking the time to read them and thanks for hopefully ;) replying

I personally would choose a 1 1/4 iron. Because like you said, you can always just not use the clip, but you have the option too. The clip can give more "princess" curls, whereas using it as a wand will give more loose natural curls. I would also go with the smallest, because you can always wrap bigger sections to get a looser curl but you can't get a tighter curl with a bigger iron.

As for brands, I think most brands have gotten what's good. Like even 10$ curling irons are usually decent quality, not the best, but the quality of salon brands 3-5 years ago if that makes sense. The only thing I really think is important is that it's not metal plated, that it's titanium or platinum, and that it has heat settings. You want an even heat all over your hair and you want to control that.

I usually buy from nume, Groupon usually has sales from them for cheap. I have never paid more than 50$ on one nut I love them. Sally also has a lot of good brands. I can't remember the brand, but they are always grey tools, they are really nice. I have a small wand and a waver from them and I really like them. I don't use heat on my hair often at all and haven't for the past few years, but I have tons of tools that I keep buying lol.

This is the brand I was talking about, hot shot tools. Also don't pay attention to the one star review, its from someone who couldn't get it because you can't buy styling tools online from Sally in Canada, so it doesn't ship here, and people complain even though they are in stores, which if there isn't one near you they don't ship there lol. But it's a really good brand and has both your measurements :)

Alyx thanks for your input :) what you're saying about the tightness of curls makes a lot of sense, so the 1 1/4 iron really seems to be a great option.
I will definitely look for a metal one so ;) which nume one do you have, if you don't mind me asking? I only found the sets for like 200 - 300 dollars :/
I'm from germany, so I don't think it's available here, but I'll look it up on eBay or something ;)

I don't have a nume set, I just have a few curling irons and a straightener. But I would look and see if there's groupon for Germany or something like it, because it really can be a great deal. Like my straightener from nume costed 30$ and came with a brush, a heat proof pouch, and a mini heat protectant. Whereas on nume that would have costed me well over 60$.
