So I'm on the search for a medium built to full coverage or full coverage Mac foundation for my oily skin
(I already own Mac's Nourishing Pro Longwear but don't like using it all the time)
Which primer would you recommend for the following Mac foundations?
Studio Fix Fluid
Pro Longwear
and
Matchmaster
What kind of coverage do they give? Would they work well with my oily skin? And what's the best way to apply these foundations. Thanks (:

I am currently using studio fix (warning - it is breaking me out so I might swap so sad as I love it! The coverage medium to full. I use the loreal primer infallible. I have combo skin & the foundation only starts to slide off at the very end of the day. DONT apply this foundation with a foundation brush the finish isn't very good & the application is quite difficult this way. The best way is by using a beauty blender.

I'd say the original pro-long wear is a light-medium/ kind of buildable foundation. I would NOT say it goes to a full coverage because it begins to look cakey and doesn't wear well like that. It is long wearing but I wouldn't bother trying to build I up to full coverage cause it doesn't wear well built up. I noticed it would crease a lot around my smile lines and make my pores look huge. Plus I couldn't did a match. NC25 was too light and NC30 too orange.
As far as Studio Fix Fluid and Matchmaster, they're pretty much the same to me. The only difference to me is that the Matchmaster has the "skin matching" ability.
I prefer the Studio Fix Fluid just cause it has more of that yellow that I prefer.
I'd say if you don't want to have the noticeable yellow (NC) or pink (NW) (due to preference or just being neutral tones) go for the Matchmaster
As far as primer, I liked the prep+Prime SPF50 with it or a VERY thin amount of the "Matte" gel they have.
As for powder, I HIGHLY suggest the Paladio? I forget the brand but they have a Rice Powder that's AMAZING for oily skin and it makes your face look SO SMOOTH and pore less especially with the Studio Fix Fluid I would get so many compliments with that combo

Thanks for detailing the pro's and cons Aurora (:.
I'm going to check both of them out. And I actually own the Rice Powder but my dumb self purchased the colored powder (/.-). Do you use the translucent one? (:. And hands down, one of the best powders out there!

Oh and before I forget, how do you apply your Studio Fix foundation? And how would you recommend applying Matchmaster, Aurora? x:

Yes they make a translucent powder! I made the same mistake once haha I accidentally got "natural" and it made my face orange lol.
I feel both can be applied the same way since they're very similar in texture and feel to me. I either use a dense kabuki brush and work in thin layers letting each dry down a little before adding another OR using a stippling brush and stippling it on, no buffing.
I buff it in with a kabuki brush when I'm in a hurry and make sure to use a clockwise and counterclockwise motion which I find helps make pores look smaller.
Then if I have more time or want that more airbrushed look I'll use a stippling brush and stipple it on, I try to really use minimal and stipple I on and making it spread+dry before adding another layer in areas that may need it

I have the studio fix and I wear nw10. It's what I go for when I want really full coverage that still looks natural.
