I also have very thick frizzy hair, and the best two ways to tame it is in the shower, I will use a hair mask every time I wash my hair. The heavier the better. I personally like the Loreal total repair 5, in the white tub with the red writing, and the khlorine hair mask. After you wash your hair, use a cotton tshirt or a microfiber towel instead of a regular bath towel, it will dry it better and there's no little fabric bits that can snag on your hair, causing frizz. Also don't wrap it, just gently squeeze the water out. A leave in conditioner or a mousse if you prefer is great, I personally make my own by diluting my conditioner with water in a 1:10 rather of conditioner (I like the body shop banana conditioner) to warm water. I make a new bottle of it every month. Oils help too. Oil masks can be good, but make sure you use a moisturizing oil not just a sealant. Olive, jojoba, argon or castor oil are all very moisturizing and olive oil has a bit of protein in it, if you are prone to breakage tiny amounts of protein like in olive oil can help that. Coconut oil is great of your hair has a lot of moisture already, but it has very little moisturizing properties and is just a sealant. It's great for use after a very moisturizing mask, but otherwise it can just make hair oily and not moisturized. Also, dry your hair a bit before conditioning, I like to bring a dry cloth into the shower with me and scrunch my hair with it after I rinse out the shampoo, so that the hair isn't soaking wet and can absorb the conditioner better. I like to once a month slather olive oil aaaalllll over, like I use about a cup of olive oil, and put it all over my hair from scalp to tips. And I wrap it in plastic wrap, then put a tshirt on top and sleep in it. The next morning I rinse it out and shampoo twice. It can be oily afterwards, but I only do it on days where I don't have anything to do or I wear my hair up that day. For everyday frizz control after I shower I put in argon oil, or a store bought mix like the organix spray oil, or the herbal essences fruit scented oil. Just make sure it's alcohol free, make sure all your products are alcohol free. Don't use oil if you're going to use heat, its basically deep frying your hair. If you air dry, applying it right away can cut the dry time down a lot since oil repels water. But after heat styling applying a bit of oil (I use about a quarter size of oil for my hair length and thickness) can really help tame frizz. And sulfate free shampoos are a must. I personally use the organix coconut milk shampoo, the body shop banana shampoo, or the Loreal ever creme, but any in the Loreal ever line are good.
Hope this helps. :)

Also I apologize if that doesn't make total sense, I am on heavy painkillers because I had my wisdom teeth surgery yesterday, and so things are a bit cloudy and I have rambled quite a bit and spaced out a few times while writing that, so if something doesn't make sense definitely tell me and I'll try my best to explain better lol.

Not a home remedy but Pro Naturals hair repair system worked for me. The argan oil leave in treatment stops frizz and is a great heat protectant.

I personally bush argan oil from the drug store through my hair with a fine tooth comb. I wash and shampoo as normal. Leaves my hair super soft
