I want to try out contouring, but I don't know if the powder or cream would be better for my oily skin, also are there any tips anyone can give me?

I think the cream would work better if you used it then went over it in powder. That way your face wouldn't be cakey looking.

Powder is better IMO. It can easily be built up whereas cream is more opaque an involves more blending then really has to be set and it just takes too long and usually looks a lot more natural/not much difference most the time usually after they set it with a contour color or bronzer.
If you use liquid foundation do a light dusting of translucent powder where you're going to contour to prevent dragging/patchiness
I personally prefer. Using a cool toned powder to sculpt and maybe add a tad bit of a bronzer that's only a couple of shades darker as a transition color/to add some warmth. If I only use a color that's darker or a bronzer it has too much warmth and looks too fake due to the color.
Some days I just use the sculpting powder which looks most natural

I prefer powder, as I feel like the creams are too heavy.

I love both but when I want to save time I go with powder contour, a great one to try would be the nars contour blushes, they are available in 3 different shades, like Aurora said powder is much easier to build up to achieve desired look. The reason why I use the nars contour blushes is because with other contour pallets there are way to many shades and I might only use 2 or 3, the nars one has only 2 shades and contains a lot of product, the current one I have now I've been using for around 2 months and it still looks brand new (:

I'm pretty sure if you have oily skin, powder is best and if you have dry skin then cream is best. Don't quote me on that though.

I have quite oily skin as well and I find that either works as long as you set the cream.
