I feel almost silly for making this thread, but I need help finding a green primer/corrector that's good for dry sensitive skin and that isn't super expensive (like 15$ max). My skin gets super red just with light touches, I can't apply my foundation with my fingers without making it more red than the foundation can cover lol.
I am only really asking because I live in Alberta, we don't have ulta or target, or really any of the makeup places the states have. I have tried googling but it just leads me to online sites that ship to Canada, which is great, but I'd spend 20$ in shipping.
In my city there's not many places that sell nyx, only one place near me sells it and it's very very sparse on what it has. I've really only seen single eyeshadows, and a few jumbo pencils, if the shelves are stocked they have a few more items, but really no face products. There's also only two stores in the entire city that sells elf, and neither of them are near me, I would spend more money getting there than I would just buying something from sephora. I haven't really seen anything else that is not from sephora, and those are always expensive which I can't afford right now. I never really go to drugstores though, so I haven't seen any new items lately.
Anyways, I would love some suggestions on a product if you could. Even if you aren't Canadian :)

Hi Alyx, I've always wanted to go to Canada to visit it seems to be beautiful & cozy, plus I was hooked on degrassi forever lol. Any who, do you have any beauty supply store's in your area? Or little stores like CVS, walgreens, rite aid?

Maybelline has a green primer which you can buy at shoppers/Walmart. I haven't tried it, but it looks similar to the smashbox one and I've heard good things about it.

Alma - degrassi is the best and worst lol.
we do have Sally, and other drugstores, like we have shoppers, London drugs, and rexal (sells nyx) and then winners sells elf. But we don't have any cvs or walgreena or ride aid, we don't really share any of those types of stores with the states. We had target for about a year, but all of them are closed now.

Lol Alyx that show has been mine and my sister guilty pleasure since the original cast way back hehe so sad to see it go. Have you tried any product's from Sally's? Palladio is a awesome brand they sell, I like their product's and it's cost friendly

Alma- At the Sally near me there's very little makeup selection, its really mostly the little things at the cashier of eyelashes. I have only gotten travel sized things from Sally and all of them disappointed me. I'll check next time I'm there but it really is a small selection from what I've seen there.
Hayley & sara - do you know if it's good for dry skin? The smashbox one seems to be good for oily skin rather than dry

Hey Alyx I'm from Alberta too!!
And I have the blur and smooth (or something like that) version of the maybelline master prime and I don't find it to cling to my dry patches so I think the green one would work for you

Qwaserght - Where in Alberta if you don't mind me asking? I'm from South side Edmonton, and I am always asking everyone what the nearest rexal sells of nyx products lol.
I will definitely check it out, where'd you buy it? I'm sure shoppers or London drugs will have it but sometimes things are annoyingly store exclusive lol. I never go to Walmart, I live within walking distance of 3 shoppers and a Sobeys so I don't have any reason to go anywhere else unless a prescription was called in somewhere like rexal.

I'm from Rocky Mountain House
I got it from shoppers, that's where I do all my drugstore makeup shopping (I hate going to Walmart haha)

I'll definitely take a look, I won't be there anytime this week since I have my wisdom teeth surgery on Thursday, but next week after I'm healed I'll definitely look :)
Alma - when I looked on the Sally website it said online only, it isn't available near me. I'll still look next time I'm there, but I don't think it'll be there. Which sucks because under 5$ definitely would be nice

I'm pretty sure e.l.f. has a green primer that's around 6$. If you get it online, shipping is usually around 10-15$. Also do you have a Lawtons by you? bc I'm pretty sure they might have some Nyx products.

Alyx T.
Alice - like I said I'm really broke right now and not willing to spend 20$+ on something that might not work for my skin, and generally you can't return things to drugstore brands, especially if I ordered online. Plus since elf isn't a Canadian brand there's shipping fees plus when it gets here I have to pay for boarder fees, which would make the whole thing like 30$.
I've never heard of lawtons. The only place that nyx ships to in my city is rexal, according to the nyx website.

Hayley - that always worries me, because I have such dry skin anything that is for "all skin types" generally dries me out. I find when it says that they just kinda mean for normal skin lol. But I'll check it out if I don't get other suggestions for something for drier skin, it's not that much and shoppers let's people return things I believe.

London drugs sells NYX if you have time to check it out. Though I do love the Victoria's Secret green perfecting primer AND I know they sell it at west edmonton mall 😉😉, they have other colours as well but the consistency reminds me of the MUFE One and it's slightly cheaper.

Brittany - I've never seen nyx at any of the London drugs I've been to, I used to work on the one on 51st Ave and they owned the one in Oliver square, but there was never nyx products :( same with the one on gateway, I was at ihop yesterday with my dad and he ran into London drugs for something and I looked at makeup lol. But I live way south and don't have my own car, so getting to West ed takes like 2 hours by bus lol. But there's one opening at Southgate soon (it says fall 2015) so hopefully that's like September lol. But like I said above, I'm getting my wisdom teeth out on Thursday, so it'll be a good week or so before I'll be up for wearing makeup and going shopping lol. I've just been needing one and putting it off for a long time haha. I've always wanted to try VS beauty products, but I'm way to broke to buy VS bras anymore so I never go in it and never think about it when I'm near one.

The bus to west Ed from the south side is pretty ridiculous😒 that's so strange usually the one near south common has some! though I haven't been around there in a while

Alyx T.
I know, it's stupid. I'm in Millwoods so the 33 goes straight there, but it's still a 90 minute bus ride plus the 15 minute ride to mill gate. It's crazy. But I've never been to the one in South common, I don't go there often. I'll take a look next time for sure though. It would be nice, the only store I've been getting my very few nyx products from is the tiny rexal in Southgate, but even the big rexals don't have a bigger selection. Or at least not that I've seen. I hope VS opens in Southgate soon, it would be nice to try their cosmetics. I've really only heard good things about them.

I believe I heard that vs cosmetics are manufactured by mac? Or are a sister company or something of the sort so I don't doubt their quality! Their eye shadows are also gorgeous! Definitely keep it in mind if you ever find yourself on the west end for whichever reason 😉

VS affiliated by L brand and their sister store is bath and body works. Sadly they won't be offering cosmetics anymore such a bummer.
Aug 19, 2015

Alma - vs is stopping or bath and body Works? I've never even heard of bath and body Works cosmetics lol. But then again I never shop there unless it's a basket thing for a gift.
