Fit Me Foundation Sticks.

I recently purchased two foundation sticks from Maybelline, one lighter than my skintone and one that looked darker, I'm curious to know how much darker would the dark one have to be to be able to contour correctly?

I would say two shades darker?? don't qoute me on that but yea just a little bit darker than your skin tone you don't wanna go too dark tho you don't want the runway stripes look can you post a pick of some swatches?

You can get it in anywhere from 1/2-2 shades darker.
The lighter it is the more subtle it'll look.

The shade number I use is 120 and the shades I got were 110 and 130

You can use them for a light contour effect. apply the lighter shade on the parts of your face that are naturally hit by the sun and the dark one where you would usually contour ( hollow of the cheecks, jawline, etc...). at least thatw what I do.

It should work fine. I use a shade darker than my foundation to contour and one shade lighter to highlight sometimes. It's great because blending is a breeze!

I would recommend the shade toffeee 330 that's the closest in the line of fit me stick that could work for contouring if wanting to use a foundation stick. If your looking for a contour color at a really low price I would recommend City Color Cosmetics contour Effects 2, I was absolutely surprised to find this palette since it was similar to my Kevyn Aucoin sculpting powder. I bought mine for $6 but online it's $13 and the highlighter that comes in the palette is also a similar dupe for Becca moonstone.I say give that palette a chance since it is a contouring palette that fits all, in reality there is only one shade for contouring.:)
As for highlighters just a tad shade up but it comes down to what type of finish you want and reason as in area's of the face you want to bring forward.

OMG I absolutely love that contour kit. I used it when I was first starting out and it helped tremendously. I'm seeing them on Amazon For less than ten bucks.

The one I have is powder and the picture you have is color correctors with cream contour at the bottom that seem to be a tad to dark and not gray cast toned like a contour/sculpting powder shade should be. I bought the city color contour Effects 2 because the contour shade is on point with what's needed to sculpt and it's similar to my Kevyn Aucoin sculpting powder which by the way is my fave and it's the OG and true sculpting powder for contour. Once you get familiar with the actual shade you'll know what to look for (by the way there is only one shade for contouring) not the gimmicks stuff that's been coming out from all these other lines, it's a marketing catch to confuse and make people believe you need different shades to make a shadow lol Ya what shade is everyone's shadow when we step outside Yup that's the shade you need, it doesn't take 6 shades to make a hint of gray cast ;)
The effects 2 has the correct shade the effects 1 doesn't.
