I wear tape in extensions 24/7 and I'm getting a little tired of having to fully curl and style them daily. I'm looking for some styling up do ideas that are easy enough and are suited for tape ins.
Like I can't throw my hair into a messy top knot since the tape shows through on the bottom of my hair.
And keep in my my hair is more bottom heavy and there are multiple layers throughout the length.
So some cute like low buns or ways to hide the tape would be good!

Maybe post a picture of where your extensions are placed? I had a beaded weft so I went through a lot of the same issues and might be able to help.

My pieces start from the middle of my ears, down. So basically the whole bottom half of my hair is taped.

I'm not a fan of tape ins myself, but I'm not sure why curling daily is necessary when the scalp oils aren't traveling down the hair shaft. I would expect them to hold a curl much better than even your own hair...and the need for washing be significantly lower. As for showing, perhaps it is indeed placement, but most everyone I know has updo issues, regardless of the type of extensions. I'm sorry I can't be of more help, but perhaps other members can provide valuable tips and insight.

Bre, does the glue damage your hair?

Reny, do you experience any damage to your own hair or matting, itching, etc? I'm curious as I've only heard of the struggles with them. It would be interesting to hear some positive aspects from someone happy with them.

Interesting. See...everyone I know.. including my own stylist is not a fan so I'm really glad to hear from someone who enjoys them and I agree extensions are a learning process. So glad you found something that you can rock and looks so natural. Sometimes I see extensions and think Lawdy...because some stylists are all about the money and don't use the best products or blend them properly and I feel badly because it is an investment of hard earned money and everyone wants to look their best. I know, much like sew ins, they just don't work for everyone, but swriously..thanks for the positive feedback. I really appreciate you taking the time. :)

I don't mind extensions talk at all! I love finding people to discuss them with. Reny, since my hair is pretty thin I have more pieces in probably than most people to create fullness, and I also have some blonde pieces in for an ombré effect. And those parts of the tape show up a lot of I put them in. There's really no way for me to avoid showing pieces of I try to do a high top knot. And then when I try to do low bun styles, it's like there's too much weight in my hair. The extensions DO hold a curl but my natural hair doesn't, so I need to blend curls in daily. I can't ever just brush and go. Roz, tape ins are the least damaging and most comfortable method of extensions I've had. I have done clips ins and micro beads prior to this. Clip ins really damaged my hair and caused so much breakage. The beads matted and were super annoying. Tape ins a comfortable and for me they've helped me use less heat on my hair. It also got me to train my hair to not need washing every day. I've noticed quicker growth with tape ins and it's nice to have long hair all the time!

I'm so glad they are working for you. I agree clip-ins when used often can leave patches and wreck hair. Hopefully, Reny can be of help. I have thin hair as well. For curling your own hair, do you use a spray prior to curling and what method of curling do you most often use? I have hair that never holds a curl for the same reasons, but found a way to get those curls to stay now for days. I know it can be incredibly frustrating and who wants to do unnecessary damage by styling ever day when we are already having hair issues? I feel you...

I order my extensions from a stylist and she will put them in and cut them for me, but for refitting monthly, I do it myself with help from my mom! (She used to be a hairdresser back in the day). I just ordered the tape and solution online, since the salons in town won't sell it to me.. Uhg haha. I've been wearing them for 2 years now and I'm just so used to them they don't bother me. Roz, sometimes I use sprays but I get lazy and skip the steps. I mean I don't fully curl every piece every day, it's just touch ups
