The most important thing while doing a photo shoot is to look relaxed and comfortable. Relax your shoulders. Don't be afraid to have fun with different poses. Move around. At the end, you'll have a ton of different poses.

Play around, and if the whether is for it then go outside, I did a photoshoot outside on an old farm and that was super fun, beside the insects but really. I both did with bright colors and dark colours (I did alternative shoot) but you could do the same, try different things out, and I think you will be even more inspired once you're in it, and also go for even the weirdest poses they can end up looking great =) have fun!
Oh and look around on the Internet I'm sure you'll get inspiration there as well.
