You can find an antibacterial brush cleanser gel/soap pretty much anywhere brushes are sold. I got mine from sephora. You basically wet the brush, apply the gel/soap to the brush, swirl in your clean hand for a few seconds or a minute, then rinse and allow to dry. There are pretty cool YouTube videos to teach you better than I. I hear you can also use regular soap however I think the best is something antibacterial.

I use baby shampoo on all my mac brushes... I firstly rinse the brush with tapered water (don't wet the handles) and the put shampoo in my palm and lather into my brushes till you see no more makeup dirt then rinse and let dry... Simple

Shampoo and olive oil with wash and condition your brushes. You need an antibacterial cleaner. You can go to Target and Sonya Kashuk makes a cheap antibacterial spray.

I just use my shampoo, wet the hairs and then swirl the brush around in the soap in your hand.

I mix dawn dish soap and olive oil, and my brushes never had a problem with it :)

Opinions on MAC brush cleaner? I bought a bottle because I heard it was really effective but am not so impressed... perhaps I am using it wrong...?

I am in love with this stuff (http://www.beautylish.com/be/parian-spirit) is just freaking awesome!
it takes care of any brushes that might be a bit dirty or extremely nasty, I even found it take care of all the stained brushes I had( Except for when I used my sugarpill love+ eyeshadow, because is crazy pigmented, it stained one or two brushes.)
anyway, if you want to deep clean them, I know Enkore from youtube has some soaps that help with that, or I make my own with some brush shmapoo I bought from crown brush and antibacterial soap(sometimes I add 99.00 % alcohol instead) and a very mild conditioner :-)

Personally I would avoid overusing antibacterial soap. Regular soap is as effective and the excessive dependency on antibacterial products can allow for bacteria to grow resistances against them.

You can find duplicates at Walmart (used for cooking, but still has the same makeup as the sigma one! For a 1/4 of the price!)
