What would an artist do in this case? It's for an assignment but I just can't find anything close enough to a make up artist working on something like this.
I'm pretty sure you would have to ask the client to go get it check out first prior to application day by their GP but what else should the artist be aware of and to do with it?

You're not supposed to work on anyone with warts because it's highly contagious.
