Hey people! (:
This summer i am going to do make-up on actresses. It is my first job as a make-up artist. And now that i'm going to do make-up on more than one person, is it enough then to clean the brushes with a regular brush cleaner after each person? or how do I secure a lof of hygiene?
best regards Vic (:

Yeah!!! Congrats!!! You must sanitize your brushes before u use them on the next clients face.... There is a instant sanitizer at sephora ... It would be helpful if u bring an assistant with u.... He or she can do this for u... At end of the day a good washing.... Also if possible have duplicates of your favorite brushes!!! Most important have fun!!!

Bare escentuals has a brush cleaner called quick change. It smells really good and works well. Another one that i like is brush off. I'm not sure where to get it though.

I agree with Sarah C. I use the bare escentuals quick change, brush cleaner it is excellent. I always use this and the brushes dry very quickly.

Also spray your palettes in between people. I do this so I don't cross contaminate. I use alcohol and a napkin.

In between talent, you can use 99% alcohol and a napkin/tissue/wipe. Just make sure you're sanitizing the brush, as well as getting the product off so it's clean for the next person. There are tons of spray cleaners to choose from, if you want to get something fancier than just alcohol- beauty so clean (which also has a spray for the makeup itself), Parian spirit.. I'm sure Sephora and all the other major makeup lines have spray cleaners also. Have fun with the job! You never know where one little job will lead you. =)

Depending on how many brushes you have you could use a brush cleaning spray and use one brush, spray it and wipe it, move on to the second brush, spray and wipe and then by the time you're back to the first brush its sanitized and dry. Its fast and this way you aren't constantly spraying one brush with alcohol or brush cleaner. Alcohol will disinfect but it will dry the bristles out over time. When you deep clean them after use something that will condition them like olive oil. Just add a bit into whatever soap you use to clean them. I myself use baby shampoo. And I like Sephora's brush cleaning spray, but as others have mentioned 99% isopropyl alcohol will work. Just put some in a small spray bottle. Paper towels are best for wiping the brushes after spraying because they can just be thrown away. Using a towel may contaminate the brushes again so use a new paper towel for each cleaning.
Good luck and have fun! :)

I just want to mention that if your brushes are nylon, using alcohol (regardless of the concentration but especially the 99%) will melt them. Not instantly or anything, but if your brushes are an investment then I would do a little extra research. The sephora brush cleansing spray has alcohol in it. Just food for thought. I don't know this until the Make Up Forever Pro came to work for a training and mentioned it.
