So one day, my skin on my eyelids and a little surrounding got extremely dry. It was very rough and flaking and peeling. I stopped wearing makeup (no primer, foundation, powders, or eyeshadow) on my lids for about two weeks now. They're not flaking skin anymore but it is still very dry. I have continued putting face lotion on the area everyday twice a day since this began and it helps, but it burns and stings when I put it on. Can anyone tell me what's going on? And how I can help it?

It may be that your eye makeup remover is too acidic! Try a less harsh one!

Try jojoba oil. When I was using the neutrogena eye makeup remover my eye area was getting really dry. So I started using jojoba oil to remove my eye makeup and as a eye moisturizer. It helps!!

Oh okay! I used the lotion because it was all I had that would provide any kind of moisture! Calling a doctor seems like too much trouble :p what eye cream could I get with no prescription?
Or where could I get jojoba oil?

It might be Exema? Especially if you stopped wearing all make up and its still dry. Easy fix...have a doc or clinic take a glance at it. And ya Angels right you should only use creams and products made for the eye. Its such sensitive skin there.

I doubt it's eczema.. I've never had anything like that before. Unless it can show up out of nowhere? Idk. I know nothing of it. But I guess I better go get stuff for eyes only! Thanks everyone :) I really wanna start wearing my eyeshadow again :(

It could be eczema- the exact same thing happened to me a couple of years ago and I found out it was eczema from the doctor- I didn't think it could pop up out of nowhere either but apparently it can =\ go to your doctors and get them to have a look, I ended up with it all over the left side of my face and my forehead!! better to get it checked out ASAP =]

I think you should listen to the girls and see a doctor before you put anything in your eye good luck xo.

Get rid of your old makeup if you got an infection.

Just your regular doc if you have one Caitlyn. If not any doc in the box (urgent care clinic) would be able to tell.

I have the same problem! It went away once I started moisturising more, but comes back frequently.

That really does sound like eczema. Call your normal doc, or you can go to an urgent care or dermatologist, whatever your insurance/budget will allow. Make sure to ask what products are least likely to trigger it after you heal. ;)

Had the same issue. As difficult as it was, I threw away ALL of my eye makeup - shadows, liners, mascaras. Put a thin layer of Vaseline on every night before bed. It cleared up in about three days.

@Karii C. Oh my goodness.. That sounds too painful... I'm going to see a doctor and do everything I can to avoid that! Ahh I can't imagine how you did that!
