Does anybody here use sunbeds and how often?

I used to go tanning, but stopped when I start noticing sunspots on my face and back. Now I use selftan lotion sometimes. After I realised how bad it actually is for your skin, I decided I'd rather be pale and healthy...

DON't DO IT!! I used to use them when I lived in the UK about 8 years ago. Now I live in Australia and every other person has skin cancer I always use SPF30+ and would only ever be my pasty self or fake tan.

I used to use them but I am finding my skin needs to treated more kindly as I am getting older... I like the colour when you have used one but only a healthy amount...

Don't do it, as tempting as it may be. It raise your risk for skin cancer significantly. Like other people mentioned it will age your skin as well. Get handy with self tanner or bronzer instead.

I tan 4 days a week. I'm a tanning addict. I feel everyone looks better with a bronzed body. I love tanning.

I probably get 3 tanning packages out in a year (in those three months going every other day). & they're always for a reason. Like November when I start to get really pale, February when I get pale again (lol) & around April for my prom. I never tan my face though, I use face tanner lotion. :)

Hmm I feel that research shows that they cause cancer and that even with goggles they cause unsightly cataracts, not to mention prematurely aging skin. Look into mystic tan (professional sprays) or slow/gradual self tanners that build up over time. Or learn to love your natural tone.

I don't know how tan became known as a 'healthy glow'. Exercise will give you a healthy glow. Tanning beds will give you ionizing radiation. That means the uv rays are knocking around molecules of your DNA damaging the strands until they no longer function properly because the code that makes up YOU are missing important pages. Tan is your skins way of saying ouch that hurt before an actual burn. Sunburn is a burn from ionizing radiation, like holding a lump of uranium. For the same money get a mystic spray tan and a bottle of sun in hair bleach. Not only will you look just as good, but you will look better for longer without the damage from ionizing radiation.

Take it from someone who has had skin cancer twice: just don't do it. It isn't worth the unsightly spots, the premature wrinkles, and worst of all having to go in twice a month for a full-body MRI (that takes nearly five hours) to make sure that you don't have metastatic cancer in your body. I don't tan, I never have. But I still have to deal with expensive doctor visits, unsightly scars from where I had precancerous and cancerous moles removed, and the constant fear that I am going to get melanoma. Please just don't do it. It isn't worth it.

I would never use a tanning bed. Not just because I would burn but because they're dangerous. I don't understand how anyone can be stupid enough to use them despite knowing the dangers. Looking 'good' is not worth getting cancer for. I've lost relatives to cancer that they couldn't have prevented, so people who CHOOSE to do use tanning beds knowing the cancer risks are IDIOTS.

If the risk of cancer doesnt scare you... 90 percent of aging is caused by environmently damage sun, smoking... 10 percent naturally. tannning drys your skin out horribly even if you dont feel results right away bur doing damage causeing wrinkles to come out of an earlier age. I know tan skin has a beautiful glow but tanning bed or tanning outside is night worth the risk find a good self tanner also cuase hyperpigmentaion

Sun beds are actually worse for you than the actual sun!! You don't want pre mature aging and sun spots, and risk skin cancer. There are so many great self tanning options!!

Tanning is awesome if you want to look like you're 80 when you're 50 and you'd like to have your flesh hacked off because of skin cancer (if they catch it before it invades your lymph nodes and kills you, that is).
