Hey, I love playing around with makeup, and sometimes I think "Hey, you look great, you should take a picture of this look!" but when I try, I can never get it the way people on here do. The colors are usually washed out or too shadowy and I never get the angle right. Is there a tip for how to do it right? I have small eyelids and they crease more than once so it looks al mushed up in pictures, but when I look at myself in a mirror, it looks fine. Any tips?

That is an awsome question! I always wonder that too! Come on ladies...tell us your secrets.

Natural Light is great, or using a camera with a flash. Using a background helps too because instead of seeing the stuff behind you in a picture, the viewer can just focus on your makeup look. I use the tapestries on my bedroom walls as backdrops for photos. I used a regular point and shoot digital camera but switched to instagram on my smart phone. I see all these ladies with great images in a circle frame- that's my question!

This is sort of related because I just snapped some pics of my v-day look with my smartphone. I love the camera on my phone but I hate the front facing camera which is what I usually use because I don't have a physical button on the phone that snaps a picture like some phones do. It drives me nuts!! I have to be able to see the touch screen to hit the capture button and the only way I can take pictures of myself using the normal camera on the back of the phone is if they're mirror shots. Which I like but you can't really get close to see the makeup. Its frustrating. I just need to start using my camera. The phone is just convenient so I don't bother digging out the camera, and I should. OR the REALLY. smart thing to do would be to get my boyfriend to use his really nice camera to take some pics for me lol.

My boyfriend never wants to help take pictures of me lol. I always have to do it myself and it's hard, especially the shots with my eyes closed!

I know ladies- my bf wouldn't mind taking the pics but I get too snippy about how I want them to look- so I would take them- but he would take forever to upload them for me because I stink with technology stuff. I have instagram now, so I find it much easier for me to manage.

IPhones definitely made it easier with the front facing camera, but always try from natural light, standing right I front of a window!

A tip with an iPhone is stand infront of a mirror but still using the back camera, so you can see the reflection of the screen, therefore you can see where to press the shoot button 😊 does that make sense?

So your not actually using the mirror to take the photo, just to see wear the button is :)

On my iPhone I can use the volume buttons on the side to take the picture when I'm in the camera app. That way you don't have to see the button on the screen, just use the volume button. I don't like to reverse the camera because the pic always comes out grainy and terrible looking.
