would I be able to just dye the top part of my hair with like manic panic to make it more vibrant without messing up the ombré :(

Shay has a very good point^^ you could try (and I know this sounds ridiculous) but you could try putting Vaseline on the bottoms while you dye the top, it'll keep the red of the bottom. It will take the absolute piss to wash out though so I don't know..

People do this kind of thing all the time in salons. I'd recommend getting a gals help and maybe putting like some sort of conditioner or something on your ends (which in the end will be great for your hair after lightening it) and then picking up sections and folding them in a foil. Let the color up top process and when it comes time to rinse, LEAVE THE FOILS IN YOUR HAIR! And lean into a bathroom sink or kitchen sink and rinse. Once the water runs clear you should be fine to take out the foils and rinse and wash the rest of the hair. No true guarantee this will work in a home setting but this is how I'd do it.
