If your hair smells burnt then you probably didn't use enough heat protection before you straighten it. Make sure to be generous with it. It makes all the difference.

I know this sounds weird, but spray a light mist of body spray onto your comb or brush and brush through. I always get compliments on it.

Make sure your hair is completely dry otherwise you are essentially frying your hair which is why it smells. Tigi Bedhead Dumb Blonde Smoothing Stuff smells like strawberries :)

Just make sure you spray enough heat tools product on your hair before you style it. Also many local hair supply stores have hair sprays that have smells to hide the smell of heating tools for like, $4 bucks. Also Flower Bomb has a hair spray for that too, at Sephora.

Heat protectant prior to straightening, then a small amount of Moroccan Oil afterwards.

As others have said, use a heat protector spray/lotion. However, I find that with some heat protectors, they don't always mask the burning smell. I'd recommend spraying a few squirts of a fruity/floral scented perfume on your pillow. Make sure the perfume doesn't irritate your skin first though.
Hope you resolve the issue!

my hair never smells burnt.... maybe lower heat settings and more heat protectant?

Well it may not be because of not spraying the heat guard right. Sometime when you'v had that straightener for awhile now you should get style hot tool cleaner. That happend to me but then I used the cleaner and it was better

Wow if ur hair smells Burt then you scorched it. You're using too much heat and causing damage. Heat protectant is not a magic fix- you still can't set it on fire which is what's happening.

Heat protectant can actually dry your hair out, and there is a bit deifference between heat protectants and creams and.other styling products, not just anything applied first actually protects, but that us a different topic. I digress... Anyways, it is possible you are using too high of a setting. Also take a good look at the tool, does it have crud built upo n it especially at the edges and seams? Then the smell is created from buildup on the hair and of course lingering on your locks. Try wiping it off and wash more frequently or use less products. And there is a "new" product out called hair perfume that freshens hair if you cannot adjust with the above suggestions.

Kenra blow dry spray. It's not a wet spray. It's more of a dry oil mist!! Smells DEVINE and protects hair! Leaves it shiny and light too!!! It's a top seller at our ULTA store!
