i have a almost one year old son and am expecting a daughter in April. seeing as i rarely have time to do anything other than throw my hair in a bun id like to get a much shorter cut, something shoulder length or shorter that doesn't require too much styling. any recommendations?

Some cuts, especially shorter cuts, actually require MORE maintenance in order to keep the shape than longer ones.

Find a cut that works with your natural texture, where your part normally lies and decide whether you're aiming for polished or textured. Gather up a couple of pictures that you find inspiring and then discuss how to modify those cuts to achieve the overall look with your stylist and make sure you explain that you have no interest in spending more than X amount of time styling it.

Also keep in mind that the right method and combination of products with a good supporting cut can significantly improve how long you can hold a style for. I keep my hair very long and it takes an hour to do, but it looks good for 4-5 days at a time without my washing it or spending more than 5 minutes on brushing/touch-ups. I could probably go down to once a week rather than twice a week if I actually used dry shampoo, which I don't. I opt to spend an hour at a time instead of 15-20 minutes every day because I personally feel that it's less of a pain in the rear to do it that way.

i was just gonna also say that sometimes short isnt always easier. i think that doing "research" is a great idea. and ask the hair dresser. just explain that ur a mom and want something stylish but doesnt require a lot if any work. good luck.

get a concave cut if you have straight hair ! I never had to straighten it or anything and it always looked modern (:

I had long hair when my kids were babies. I only started getting my hair cut off when i actually had more time to my self. Now its short. Its easy for me. It takes me 5 mins to do. But like the others have said- short is way more maintenance. I have to get reg cuts every 5 weeks. You just have to see how you feel and what you have time for.

When my kids were small it was hard to find time for anything. It get easier when they get older and more independent. Youll find out what works best for you. My advice- do not go get your hair all chopped while pregnant. You will so regret it. Thats the hormones talking. Haha. It all work out. :)
