My personal style tends to be a Vintage/gothic/harajuku, so I guess I am too ;P

Can I join the club? Rocker/punk, maybe even a lil bit of emo.
\m/(`∇´)\m/
I'm a bit of a loner, I feel like I don't belong anywhere.

Hi to everybody! Is it ok if I go off-topic a little? I'm interested in what kind of music goth/alt ppl here are listening to... Sorry I know it's a beauty site but music also goes with your identity and personal style so I'm hoping its at least a little relevant. Maybe I'm stereotyping a bit but I like metal and I'm wondering if goth peeps also tend to like dark metal or melodic metal...

Valkyrie F.
@Coco, no that's perfectly fine. I listen to all sorts. Goths normally listen to bands such as the Bauhaus and the Cure being the main bands. I love them both and sooo many others! I also listen to heavy metal and melodic metal. And if I'm perfectly honest... Metal is my favourite type of music. Listen to whatever speaks to you and makes you feel happy. If you have any questions or you want me to go more into depth on music etc, don't be afraid to ask. :)
@Emma, that's great! I love my gothic clothes and make up too! :)

I love the cure as well, went to their show a few years ago, they're really generous with their encore, kept on playing and playing. I'm going to check out the Bauhaus.

Coco, I listen to many different kinds of music, so they aren't necessarily "goth" but some of my favorites (since my "goth" phase) and currently to this day include(gothy stuff on top, my other favorites at the end):
Bauhaus (YAY Valkyrie!): this is probably what comes to mind when you think of goth rock.
Check out their famous "Bela Lugosi's Dead," "She's in Parties," and "Telegram Sam"
Christan Death (early stuff with Rozz Williams): "death rock" really love ita little gothy, a little punky, all genius.
Check out "Halos," "Romeo's Distress," and "Spiritual Cramp"
Siouxsie and the Banshees: Siouxsie Sioux rules! It can be a lot pop-ier but it can still really interesting. Saw her when I was like 13 and I loved the show (event hough she was like 60 years old lol).
Check out "Christine," "Kiss them for Me," and "Happy House"
Queen Adreena: amazing underground band from the UK
Check out "Siamese Almeida," "Madraykin," "Cold Fish," and their cover of Dolly Parton's "Jolene."
Queen Adreena's frontwoman Katie Jane Garside also has a lovely project called Ruby Throat which is beautiful
Check out "In the Arms of Flowers," and "Barebaiting"
RASPUTINA: my ABSOLUTE favorite. A dark cello band who has amazing themes and conceptual albums. Some of their old stuff is more cello-y (and more gothy) and a lot of their newer stuff sounds a lot like guitar music on cellos (lots of interesting chords with distortion petals, etc). REALLY GREAT! They play all of their shows in historical corsetry and they're the best with fans (probably seen them 30+ times since I was 12 and I'm 23 now).
Check out "The Olde Headboard," "Tourniquet" (Marilyn Manson cover), and "A Retinue f Moons/The Infidel is Me" Everything is really different, so check out lots of different things if you want. Their kinda darkest album is "Cabin Fever," which is AMAZING. And watch everything you can live on YouTube because its BETTER than their recordings-amazing
Veruca Salt: They are hella 90's, I loed them as a kid and they're still one of my favorites. Its a dark rock and pop (influenced) girl band-BRILLIANT.
Check out( their whole youtube vevo account!) "Number One Blind," "Shutterbug," and "All Hail Me." You have have heard their hits "Volcano Girls" and "Seether" though!
The Cramps: psychobilly-esque... totally fun, lots of horror themes
Check out "The Way I Walk," "Human Fly," and "Jungle Hop"
Sonic Youth - noise rock-y. One of the most brilliant bands on the earth! I think they appeal to tons of different people who like many different genres
Check out "Sugar Kane," "Bull in the Heather," "Dirty Boots," and "100%"
The Dead Milkmen: totally punky, but not hardcore punk, still has elements of early punk roots. Full of FUNNY songs and hella catchy!
Check out their hit, "Punk Rock Girl," "Big Lizard in My Backyard," and "The Thing That Only Eats Hippies."
Other notable mentions (with one song suggestion in parenthese):
Björk (Joga)
KATE BUSH (The Wedding List) or EVERYTHING EVER!
Broken Social Scene (Anthems for a 17 Year Old Girl)
scarling. (band-aid covers the bullet hole OR crispin glover)
Bif Naked (I love myself today)
Wax Tailor (Ungodly Fruit)
Beats Antique (Beauty Beats)
Poe (Trigger Happy Jack)
Hole (Violet) everything is amazing though
The Cure (Grinding Halt)
Melissa Auf Der Maur (Follow the Waves)
Adam and the Ants/ Adam Ant (Kings of the Wild Frontier) I have a tatoo for this guy, he's amazing!
Roxy Music (Mother of Pearl)
Pixies (Cactus)
Wipers (Window Shop for Love)
Breeders (Doe)
The Smiths (There is a Light that Never Goes Out) and EVERYTHING else
Jennifer Gentle (Take My Hand)

Nekromantix (Nice Day for a Resurrection)
KMFDM (Juke-Joint Jezebel)
Placebo (Without You I'm Nothing)
Radiohead (Talk Show Host)

Ween (Joppa Road) all their songs/albums are insanely different though

Sorry I got a little carried away, but I get really excited about music and that's just stuff I liked since my goth phase over 10 years ago lol-I left out things I started listening to after that lol (except the Wax Tailor and Beats Antiques songs).
And you can find ALL of those songs on youtube

I'm reviving this thread because often peeps seem to be gushing over styles I simply cannot relate to. I try to be objective, but I often feel I'm in the Beautylish minority with regard to my tastes and interests. I rarely see something I'd love to try for myself and I came here to explore...learn and hopefully share. :/ So many lovely ladies here, but my I adore pin ups, rockabilly...punk...goth...alternative adventurers so no matter your gender, holla if you're out there!!

Hey girlies! Long time no speak. I haven't been on here in a while.
@Rozberry J: I understand completely where you're coming from and I'm glad there's people out their that feel the same way I do. I love all things gothic and I really want to share it with people. :3
