Its a wax made of sugar. you make it at home too. you can use it cold or warm. They say its not that painfull like regular waxing. I've only used the cold method. And its not that painfull like waxing with strips.

Sugar 1/4 water 1/4 lemon juice, you can add a little honey if you want. Then put it on the stove. When it gets bubbly lower the heat. take a spoon and when it drips of your spoon its done. It should not be too thin or too thick. Don't let it burn. When its to dark it's not good anymore. It should be gold brown. There are some recipes on youtube you check it out if you want.
