I have been wanting to dye my hair red for a long time. But I'm afraid if I dye it I will have to dye it every 4 weeks. And if I want my blonde back I won't be abled to go back. I want it the same color in the picture. Any help or advice would be much appreciated!

I had red hair just like that last Summer.. & I could only wash my hair twice or even once a week before I hada dye my hair again.
When I did wash, I just saw my hair colour literally - going down the drain!
I couldn't even enjoy my red hair because it faded so quickly -. -

It really depends on how often you wash it and what kind of dye it is. Since you have blonde hair already, you have the option of using semi-permanent dye like Manic Panic, but it WILL fade faster. There are also salon-only acid dyes that stick around for quite a while, but they're a commitment. It's harder to remove, even by a professional. You basically HAVE to wait till it fades, do a soap cap, and then tone to get it out.

You also have to consider how much your roots are going to annoy you, even if you're not worrying about fade-out. Honestly, I need a root touchup and a toner every 4 weeks regardless, because it annoys the bejeezus out of me that my roots are much paler than the rest of my hair... and while I'm at it, I just might as well retouch the midshaft and ends.

It'll definitely wash out to a mid/light brown after a couple of weeks. I dyed mine with a bright red drugstore brand and I'm now left with a brown. You'll have to frequently dye it to keep up the colour, BUT there is hope! You can get a dry shampoo from batiste with a red tint to it (its way more than a tint) so if you find it is fading then using that daily will bring it back without having to dye it as much! That's what I do anyway!

I wanted to know if you were naturally blonde or not because I am naturally blonde but dye my hair red and I only do my hair every 2 and a half months. I don't have issues with fading but I have a lot of red undertones in my blonde hair so it pulls red easily and stays.

My hair is naturally like a dirty blonde. But every hair stylist I talk to tells me that the red won't stick in my hair because I have already bleached it "too much" and it would just be an ugly orange in my hair. So that's what I'm worried about.

My hair is naturally dirty blonde, but I was hit by an obsession with red hair in my late teens. I cut it short abd dyed it the same shade of red that's in that picture. BIG mistake. As others have said, it washes out and becomes dull over a few weeks. But, worse of all, it's been nearly four years and the red is STILL there! I'm blonde now, after much hassle trying to get rid of the red, but in certain lighting it's still visible. It's maddening.
If you truly want red hair, I suggest not using permanent dye.

I have deadlocks but my fringe is still natural and I have very vibrant red hair. I used renbow crazy colours in fire and it's really good. I wash my fringe usually 2 maybe 3 times a week with a natural shampoo/conditioner and I've only touched it up once since early December.

I got my hair dyed a dark red at the salon just over a month ago and I haven't noticed any fading (my hair is naturally dark brown). It all depends on what dye is used, my hairdresser said that box dye fades faster and is often more damaging to the hair.
