Does using a flat iron actually change the texure of the hair? if its smooth and silky, will the heat make it rough?

If you burn it and fry it too much, it can.

I have very thick, coarse and curly hair. However I use a flat iron a lot and it makes my hair really smooth, soft, and silky. However I also make sure I take proper care of my hair. I use a deep conditioner and hair mask every so often to prevent damaging it. Also when using a flat iron make sure to pull the iron down quickly so you don't burn it. You don't want hold your hair in the iron for too long or it can become burnt and damaged. Otherwise using a flat iron will change the texture to smooth and silky. =)

I've also used a flat iron on my friends hair who is the opposite of mine. Thin, soft, smooth and really nice. It made her hair even more smoother and softer. No roughness what so ever. So hair texture shouldn't matter at all. All that matters is how long you hold the hair in the flat iron.
