Fix for brassy highlights?

I just got blond highlights in my brown hair and I hate them. They are brassy and uneven. I can't afford to go back to my stylist. Does anyone have any tips for fixing this myself?

I have heard about purple shampoo/toner, thinking about trying it, but I also want to get rid of some or all of the highlights. Does Walmart (only store near me) sell like a semi-permanent cool-toned dye? any particular brands that are better? I am so clueless :(
