I've been obsessed with wanting to do a gradient nail design, so I bought the make up sponges and proceeded to apply the polish like a lot of YouTubes demonstrate , but the polish barely stays on or builds up. I'm using sinful colors nail polishes.
Is this a matter of nail polish quality? Or do I just need to build more coats up? Any thoughts would be appreciated!

I tried to do the same thing with sinful colors nail polish and honestly it will work but it takes A LOT of building to do. So just try a different brand like OPI Essie Sally Hansen or Pure Ice. Those are just some of my favorite nail polish brands and they work great for this design! But if you really wanna do this design with singul colors it takes a lot of building with the colors!

I just did this style tonight, I noticed that when I let the coats dry for a few seconds the sponge dried a bit too, which actually helped it pick up more color (I think a lot of the polish got absorbed in the makeup sponge) after that it went on thicker

Were you using a solid polish color on your nails before sponging. I reccommend a white polish before sponging colors on the nails to make them appear brighter ! (:
