So I have a dilemma. In August I had head surgery to put a va shunt into my head. They had to shave off one side. Afterwards I looked terrible, but I had a magic hair dresser who fixed it by cutting the other side short. (Picture attached). The photo I'm showing is with it grown out a fair bit, but the general idea is still there. My hair appointment is on Tuesday, and I'm not sure what to do. I'm getting mixed reviews. Some people say grow it out into a longer asymmetrical look, some say keep it short but all one length, some say normal grow out and some say its totally awesome the way it is. If I were to maintain my current hair, the shaved side would be a tad shorter then it is now. What do I do? I feel like my hair is sort of symbolic as a reminder of what I went though, and it's an awesome haircut and I love it. But I also miss my really long, curly hair that everyone also said they love. I'm really indecisive, so I don't know what to do!

I say keep the short look and keep it longer on one side

you don't need a hair cut to remind you of what you went through, it will always be with you. the thing i picked up from ur post is that YOU miss ur long hair. forget what everyone else says and go for it.
